Silly hat and gown ordered :T :T :T

Checked out the price of buying it - £125 for the hat, £95 for the hood, and £367 for the gown

Needless to say, I've hired mine :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Cheery, I wore a black dress under the silly gown - looked OK (and pearls, of course, but still tripped over).

When the Universe delivers, I am going to buy the whole set - the gown, the funny thing with hood (here it is separate) and the hat. And wear the everytime I teach - than I'll get committed and/or will be offered early retirement.

With all the madness around though it may be that veryone will be required to wear them. Oh, well...

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: FW - I bet they would offer you early retirement if you did that! :rotfl: :rotfl: :D

Well, I have made a decision about which door to order, roped in friend (joiner) to come and fit it, and tried to order over the phone, but nobody was there. Want to ask a couple of questions so don't want to order over internet. Still, have all the info now and feel like I've progressed :T :T

Also been food shopping - gosh it's hot out there!

Back inside now, Mr Daffs is asleep for another hour or so, so I'm going to get my pinny back on and clean the outside windows and get a spot of hoovering and dusting done :T Quite shocking all this activity, I can tell you! :rotfl:

    Quite the perfect 'home-maker' ;)

We weren't allowed hats at Bristol but I was allowed for my master's at Cranfield; however it didn't fit properly despite them measuring me and it annoyed me all day falling off! So that spoilt things rather!

Just woke up feeling like giving the place a good scrub! Didn't actually do much in the grand scheme of things, and it still probably wouldn't pass most people's standards :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: But got a few things done, kitchen is pretty clean, windows are done, and the front door (badly in need of a paint!). Have hired robes, made a few decisions about door and rang up to buy it, cleaned out a few drawers, changed the sheets, and done two loads of washing. That's a lot for me! :D

Back at work tomorrow - another busy week, need to get on the case with it really. Being forced to have lunch at Betty's tomorrow (sadly have to pay for it ourselves  think I'll be just having a cuppa! :rotfl:) - hard life, isn't it?? :D

That sounds like a very productive weekend!

Terrible being forced to go to Betty's - last time I went past it I stood and looked longingly through the window at other people's little sandwiches and cakes on stands :rotfl:

    Have a good day :)

Durham don't have mortar boards, as lasting proof that Durham boys are ridiculous... the story goes they threw them in the Wear in protest at the idea of letting FEMALES into the uni... however the tradition of no boards lives on, with a lot of people (ladies included) refusing to wear them in the official pictures. I hated my graduation pic though, so forced with a plastic scroll as the degree certificates come later! It is such a shame, as the rest of the day is lovely (graduated in the cathedral... v. nice indeed. And quite cool, an advantage in July when wearing a gown!).

Hi Cheery :D Someone said the other day that they thought it would be a lot cheaper just to buy the shopping you need when you need it - i currently do a weekly shop at the supermarket and top up when necessary during the week - top-ups admittedly are on things i see reduced price or on offer. From your posts - and i could be completely wrong :p i think you just buy the things you need when you need them? So i wanted to ask if you think this does work out cheaper overall :) As ever i am trying to take on board new ideas to reduce this debt faster :o

What on earth gave you that impression?? <boggles> :D Actually, you're right - but that's more to do with Mr Daffs' love of food shopping than any good management on my part :rotfl: I bl**dy hate shopping, of any kind :rotfl:

No kind of proper strategy, I went to co-op and fruit and veg shop (and Jack Fultons) yesterday and spent £20 - Mr Daffs has been to netto today and spent a fiver, I'll probably get more fruit first thing tomorrow, and then probably again last thing at night... :rotfl:

To be honest, I suspect it doesn't work out cheaper - and I think you'd have to be quite disciplined cos sometimes it's tempting to get treats EVERY time you're in the shop :rotfl: Our main issue is that we get through LOTS of milk, and that if there's fruit in the house, Mr Daffs will eat it :rotfl: so to stop him being ill, and to ensure that I actualy get to eat some, we end up buying it every day :rotfl:

So thanks for asking, but I'm not sure I would suggest it as a debt reduction strategy (a time-reduction one perhaps :rotfl:)... oh, we'd usually walk just to the local shops too - wouldn't go to supermarket every day  so probably works out more expensive in the long run (although I'd rather go to the co-op than Tesco given the choice)...

Hmm, what was the question again??

No, it's probably not cheaper, it's certainly more time and effort, but it's the only way I can get any fruit, and it gets us out of the house :rotfl: (I jest, of course, I can actually think of other places to go than the local shop, but it's 5 mins walk away, we generally do a round trip walk through the park/fields too, and it's a nice cooling down activity at the end of the day!)
