Another one here that hates shopping!

I find I spend more if I am not organised, popping in for a pint of milk always seems to cost me £10 :D So I *try* to only go to the supermarket once a week (or two if I can get away with it) armed with a list. If I need anything in between times it is usually fresh vegetables so I only go to the local greengrocer, that way I am not tempted with all the lovely special offers in the supermarket.

This week I have failed already. Did my supermarket shop on Saturday and then found the list of cleaning stuff needed (why oh why does it all seem to run out at once) so had to go in again tonight.

And I have now been volunteered to provide a jug of Pimms for lunch on Thursday and need lemonade and an orange for that so I have to go back AGAIN

I have also started putting my shopping list on my phone so it is always with me when I am out. But as you can see that doesn't always work!

Don't think I am being a lot of help really :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

What is it about shopping this week? I'm another who does the weeks worth in one go, albeit in various places, but this week am going to need to go in again for milk. I usually buy a few bits in Sainsburys - often they then give me a £2 off when you spend £20 voucher, so that then goes on a little excursion to Tesco to buy everything else. (I go too - it would be irresponsible to send the voucher on its own as it's only little! :p). The exception to that is Milk as Tesco are now charging £1.49 for a 4pt whereas Lidl have it for £1 so that's worth an extra trip. Tomorrow though will be Tesco as I can walk there, but have to take the car to Lidl.

Ooh, it's very complicated isn't it??? :rotfl: :rotfl:

We did try for a few months a couple of years ago writing down EVERYTHING we spent on food in a spreadsheet :D After seeing 17 pints of milk in the first week, and, I believe, about 34 apples  I stopped worrying about it too much :rotfl: We managed to spend around £40 a week between two of us while we were doing that, and I suspect we spend more now, but right now I'm not too worried. We don't eat meat, Mr Daffs eats the occasional tin of tuna but I don't, fruit and veg comes mostly from the greengrocer, and I buy in season when I can, and on offer if it's there. We buy the occasional box of quorn burgers/sausages as a treat, but mostly it's beans/pulses/lentils. We don't do crisps or biscuits (well, I do, of course, but not in with the weekly shopping :rotfl:)

Making us sound like a right pair! :D :rotfl: But Mr Daffs can't do much in the way of fat, so we don't get through much oil, never buy butter, and I usually buy either a little bit of 'nice' cheese, or jack fulton's reduced cheese which lasts ages :)

All in all, I actually don't know how much we spend at the min! Not too much though :)

Sorry< I'm no help either! :rotfl: :rotfl:

We also eat a lot of instant noodles :rotfl: and value fake weetabix :rotfl:

At the minute while I'm trying to eat more healthily, I'm not keeping track of spending on fruit etc - if I want grapes I'll generally have them, or strawberries or whatever - in the past I would have avoided them - then gone and bought several mars bars :rotfl: :rotfl:
  • just popping out of lurkdom and giggling at Pop goes the Weasel (a little belatedly!)

I was at a gig a few weeks ago and met a bagpiper who was telling me about how to arrange daft tunes but put them in context so that no one knows :D one of the ones he had heard was at an extremely smart event and sure enough, the piper had run out of tunes and decided to do a very slow improvisation on pop goes the weasel. He sang it to me and it kind of went

haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalf (twiddle) a pouuuuuuuuund (twiddle) of tuuuuuuuupenny rice (twiddle/trill) etc.

it hasn't come across quite how he sang it (!!!) but it was very funny. So I reckon Pop Goes the Weasel could be the next big thing :D - have you had your tootle yet ladies?! I really want to hear how it went/goes!

not tooted yet lionhearted girl! Did laugh at your piper! :D

Reminds me of the time Mr Daffs once did a song in the pub (well, he does all the time, but this once was special) - was at least 2 mins in before anyone realised it was Ernie - the fastest milkman in the west :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Pah - missed my opportunity to walk by messing around, so I'll have to drive instead. Was looking forward to a bit of fresh air! Might have to stop off on the way home for a bit of a plod instead :D

So... today I'm working at home, and there's a LOT to do <wibble> Need to get head down and NOT be on the internet really at all... so if you see me in here, give me a slap! :rotfl:

Right, best go I suppose before I'm late (again) :rotfl:

actually squizz you're lucky I've got a better diary than memory - I was busy planning how I'd need to go into York tomorrow to make all these darn phone calls :rotfl: Fortunately I remembered you first, or else you would have been sat in my building site garden!  VERY excited - be warned I have done NO preparation (apart from having the darn thing serviced) - shall I make a cake or something?! :D

:rotfl: I'm sure it would be very nice sitting in your garden but less fun than tootling away.

Since you're hosting the tootling, I'll bring the cake - any particular favourites?
