It's our anniversary tomorrow. I found out a couple of years ago that a relative of DH's got married on the same date 102 years before we did and no he didn't know about that when we chose our dateOfficial Mascot and Chief Cheerleader for the 'Mortgage Free in Three' Gang0 -
hi everyone
I'm new to this thread but would like to give it a go this week and see how i get on. I'm not very organised and the housework usually gets done very quickly on a Sunday evening and its always just the basics. Fed up with the house always being a mess and having to do a frantic overhaul of the house the night before someone comes to visit.
Currently on maternity leave but i never seem to find the time to do the housework properly....
think I'm going to aim for level 1 and 2, I'll let you know how it goes0 -
Just popping in to say
I love the wombles too:j :T
I have a large cuddly Orinoco lurking at my dad's house and the complete set of Wombles from McDs and from Robert HarrisOh, and all the episodes on DVD
Right - errmm - think I should head to bed after that revelation before I disclose more ...........
Night all, sleep well xx"There's only one way of life and that's your own" - Levellers

Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.

Bungo Womble Personality: Bungo chose his name from Great Uncle Bulgaria's Atlas by closing his eyes and pointing. 'Ha-hum,' said Great Uncle Bulgaria, 'Bungo it is then. Silly sort of name, but it quite suits you.' Bungo tends to be the bossy Womble who thinks he knows everything
Great Uncle Bulgaria Coburg Womble Personality: Leader of the Wimbledon Wombles. Has snowy white fur, wears a tartan shawl and glasses and usually is carrying a copy of the mornings Times. Often heard saying 'if I live to be 400' so he's at least in his 300s
Madame Cholet Womble Personality: Is English through and through but has a french accent and does all the cooking. The puppet wears a mob cap and an apron.
Orinoco Womble Personality: Lazy fat Womble always trying to catch an extra forty winks or an extra portion of pudding. Orinoco wears a floppy red hat and scarf
Tobermory Womble Personality: The second oldest Wimbledon Womble. He runs the workshop and is a craftsman. The puppet wears a bowler hat and leather tool vest.
FOUND THIS ASWELL
- Great Uncle Bulgaria (violin, musical director) - the Wombles' leader, was based on Beresford's father-in-law and named after the country of the same name
- Tobermory (roadie) - an engineer, was based on Beresford's brother, a skilled inventor, and named after the capital of the Isle of Mull
- Orinoco (vocals, keyboards) - a shirker who loved sleep and food, was styled on Beresford's teenage son and named after the River Orinoco in South America
- Bungo (drums) - over-enthusiastic and bossy named after Bungo Province in Japan
- Tomsk (bass) - an athletic Womble with a rather low IQ named after Tomsk in Russia
- Wellington (guitar) - scientifically inclined, but very insecure and absent-minded. Named after her nephew's school.
- Madame Cholet (saxophone) - a cook, was styled on Beresford's mother, named after a town in France
- Miss Adelaide - schoolmistress, named after the city in Australia
- Alderney - Madame Cholet's assistant, was named after Alderney in the Channel Islands where Beresford lived towards the end of her life. She appeared in the early books, but did not make it into the first TV series. Her character was revived in the second TV series, when many viewers wrongly assumed she was a new character.
- Cousin Cairngorm McWomble the Terrible - named after the Cairngorms, a mountain range in Scotland. He was introduced in the second book (The Wandering Wombles) as a Highland Womble clan chief. He appeared in the TV series when he visited the Wimbledon burrow.
- Shansi - often paired with Alderney, as Bungo was with Orinoco, named after a province in China
- Stepney - East Ender with dreadlocks, obviously got his name from the Stepney area in London's East End where he came from
- Obidos named after Óbidos, Par! in Brazil
