Htc desire hd - batter life issue
Comments
-
Most of the battery life is the various apps and functions syncing. Check out how often each one is checkign for updates, and adjust them all right down.
You should easily get a day out of you phone. I have the desire HD and even spending a few hours playing games on it it will easily last a day.

O2 phones are generally not branded as far as I know.
If it came with O2 sim card, good idea to stick to that when doing update but should not matter as the htc sync will work out which product it is - and identify which firmware update (if any is available).
If you check the version of the current software on the phone and then go to www.htc.com - you can easily determine if there is an update available or not.
You may not get the latest update if O2 have not approved it for that handset but no harm in trying - it won't do any damage if you simply try to update.
PS - the phones usually have automatic update check setting on. So if the update had been availble, you would have known by now with a pop up telling you.0 -
I do seem to recall getting an update notification last week but I've only had the phone for about 10 days and I was out and about with 3G rather than at home on my WiFi so I just said No.
I might try it out now. How long will it take over my home WiFi?"If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
Depends on your internet connection - the download could be around 100MB (can't remember).
Android 2.2 is the latest you can get for that phone.
Could take 5-10 minutes to install after downloading.0 -
Im not on HTC am on Samsung but I had the update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread a couple of weeks ago and it has really improved my battery life probably by 30% or so. Well worth taking the time to do the upgrade, sorry can't say how long it will take I took mine into carphone warehouse and they did it for me.0

One thing worth mentioning is the DHD has a puny battery, 1230mah vs the original Desire's 1400mah. It's never going to have great battery life.0

On my htc hero my battery started with half days, even with task killer, I rooted it and flashed a custom rom, battery improved so much. after 5 months it last around 20 mins which was strange so I flashed back to the stock rom and now battery will last 3 days!!!! with heavy use. its great but I'm selling it for a nexus s soon0
