Frames, fields, framerates and refresh rates, transmission carrier frequencies, channel (variable) bandwidth, multiplexing, codecs, the punter stands no chance. I know loads of people who think films look filmic because they are shot at 24fps, not 25, despite being played out with a 48fps refresh rate - and that is nice simple-to-undertsand film with a strip of pictures on it.
And frankly most of the demo signals in stores to show off HDTV look AWFUL anyway (mpeg banding of gradients, mosquitoes on lettering, supersaturated colour and overbright - and even worse with an SD signal!). I'm surprised any sets ever get sold.0 -
Wow vyle, that's the mother of all rants! (but I'll be bearing all those points in mind the next time I go shopping for technology!)0

As others have alluded to vyle, if people didn't need stupid questions answering, you'd be on the old king cole.
It is what your employers have given you a job for.0 -

And me :hello:
Since my eyes don't work together (and never have, I even had surgery as a child for it but to no avail) I am unable to use ANY 3D glasses. The images just flick between red and green where my eyes can't adjust to it and it gives me a headache
Am I going to be able to watch TV at all 5 years from now?!
ETA We were researching a new TV recently, went into Currys and was astounded by how all the people on the TV screens looked as orange as David Dickinson  I don't think turning the colour up that high is a good sales technique either!Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o
