There is NO excuse for not taking your cat to the vet - how would you like to be in pain and be made to wait until Monday? Emergency vets are always available.

The sooner he is treated, the sooner he will recover.

Also, not impressed by OP saying: "I may wring his neck before Monday he is driving me insane.. I daren't put the baby down in case he wees on her!"

The OP ought to be ashamed of that attitude - it's their responsibility not the cat's fault !

I mutter about spitroasting mine if they leave furballs strategically placed where I step barefooted out of the shower - it doesn't mean I'm anything other than a complete pushover for big eyes and a set of whiskers.

Mine are told they'll be made into mittens, slippers or dusters.. I'll put a stick up their bum and polish the lightbulbs with them, I'll tie their whiskers in knots, stewed.. allsorts.. the point is something you say isn't automatically something you'd do so.. us adults know this!! honestly, I swear some people have nothing better to do, this place is definitely filling up with the nutters off ebay! There seem to be loads about lately.

When my other cat was shot in the face and had her eyeballs popped out of the socket at 10pm there were no vets open then either.. so if you have nothing useful to contribute.. do the adult thing.. shut up and go away! Whining won't make a vet miraculously find an appointment.. esp at the moment when they are overrun with cats, kittens and other sick critters.. mine is no more important than anyone elses!. Unless of course I made him unwell in the first place.. hmm.. sounds like me..

Vet today said make sure he is drinking still and take him Monday.. he actually seems to be a tad better today.. he isn't after peeing in stupid places .. like the carrier bag of baby food! ggrrrr...and took himself outside to his plant pot.. he is settled and was purring about rolling in the sun.. def not off his food though.. He is drinking and weeing and the vet said Monday... one said Thursday so Monday is good!! They are all just rammed and very few have overnight/weekend care as well :(

He is actually the second stupidest cat I have ever come across (his brother is more stupid).. I told him he'd be turned into a rabbit if he didn't shut up the other day! (stretch his ears and tie his tail in knots until it resembles a rabbity pompom!) he was sat on a book yowling at the lightbulb in the hallway like it was the moon.. He is funny... sulks like a spoilt child if he is told off... usually for dancing on the table!

You have a pet in an emergency situation, a very painful one at that! - ring the OOh vet and pay for it!

If you cant afford the vet, you cant afford the pet!!

    Who mentioned money?

I'm not a 'nutter'' - nice to hear your considered opinion on that though - I just don't appreciate finding (based on what you actually wrote) someone thinking it is OK to leave a cat in pain for a couple of days rather that getting it to an emergency appointment plus you finished your post by saying that he is driving you insane by weeing everywhere. No context, no smiley to show you were joking...

I won't go away as this is a forum available to all and so I believe that means me as well? If you don't want to hear a variety of answers then don't invite opinion on an open forum - simples!

Back to your poorly cat, I really find it hard to accept that there is no vet in driving distance that is available? Where in the country are you?
    :hello:
  • Driving distance is only useful when you have a car. Oh, and no small children that you can't leave unattended to go walking five miles alone in the dark (assuming you don't have disabilities or medical conditions that make it impossible to walk that far, or personal safety issues).

Never mind whether or not you have the cash in your pocket to pay for a cab there and back, as few will accept the 'I haven't got the money to pay you right now, so can we stop at a cash machine?' story - I don't hold that much money in the house as a rule.

Too much criticism and not enough advice on how to make him more comfortable until he sees the vet.

    .

A cab driver won't mind stopping at a cash point.....
  • They refuse round here, as it is the usual method for people doing a bunk.

So get them to pull up by the machine & offer to leave your bag/coat/whatever while you use the machine.

I've often stopped at the cash point when I've got a cab.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this: Sorry, giving or asking for medical advice is not permitted on this forum as it’s not what this site is about.
