Can you pay line rental for the 12 months up front with BT? If so, that may save a few bob not to have to wait 12 months to go with another LLU provider.
You'd have to check which is cheaper between 12 months up front line rental and any connection charges the new LLU operator would charge.0 -
Thank you macman, your help is much appreciated - calls to make now, that's today sorted!
Thank you gz33zg for your original post, without it I would have been totally ignorant. How are you getting on?0 -
Thanks Gordon Hose, I'll try to cover all eventualities in my investigations. My head hurts already just thinking about it - here goes!0

Stick your details in here - http://shop.o2.co.uk/promo/o2broadband . Should say something about needing to do something to your line. O2 say they charge £45.96 to convert your line from TT LLU, might be still worth it.“I look like Spiderman at a funeral”~ Karl Pilkington0

What they will actually do is provision a new line.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

You don't have to go through BT to get a BT line back up and operational. You can go through Post Office to do it. Huge advantage is that PO don't tie you into a contract for the phone line.0

Provided they have a presence at the exchange. I know they don't at mine.0 -
The PO service is available at any exchange-they are not an LLU provider. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Oh, I see. I used their checker, seems I'd have to call them as I have a Sky line.0

Job done! Wasn't nearly as painful as I expected. I have to pay O2 a connecting fee of £43 but as an O2 customer already I get £30 cash back so even with that fee, my monthly cost is still less than TT with unlimited downloads and hopefully better customer service. Happy days! Let's hope the transfer goes as smoothly.
Thanks again for your help,
