You can just straight out cancel your TT service. If you want a new LLU provider then you'll have to find out who is unbundled on your exchange, you won't need a MAC to cease current service then take a new service up elsewhere. You may be charged a connection fee by the new provider. This usually takes 6-8 weeks, you'll have to give your 30 days notice with TT, a new connection can take a couple of weeks to set up, provided there are no hiccups (tags left on the line etc).
If you don't want to pay a new connection charge then you'll need to do as macman says and go back to BT on a return to donor, however you're stuck paying them their line rental for 12 months.0 -
Oh I had no idea about this. Am I likely to have the same problems? I'm planning to move from TT to O2 for phone & broadband.

Yes, if you are on a TT LLU line already. Dial 17070, if you get the number defined, then a series of options, it's not LLU. If you get the number only, it's LLU.
If the latter, you'll probably need to do a return to donor. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Hmmm that means I won't get the good deal from O2 then I'm guessing. That does change things & may need to rethink. Thanks for the info, at least I know. I'll check it out later.

Put your number into the O2 website and it should tell you.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

I get "this number is defined as xxxxxxx" with no other options. That complicates things. Me no likie!!0 -
So your line is LLU'd.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

So it would appear :-(. Obviously I need to investigate further, but on the face of it it appears that I have to transfer my line rental to BT then I won't get the advantage of the O2 deal which defeats the object of moving - so I'm trapped with TT??0

No, but you can move your line rental back to BT, then your broadband to O2. After 12m you can then take the line rental to O2 as well if you wish. Or pay the ETC if you don't want to wait 12m.
O2 broadband is infinitely better than TT in the meantime. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
