You lot must live in poor areas, They put £7.02p in here. I doubt it got him far with a 2.5 litre petrol BMW,
Especially with the high revs & wheel spinning out of the forecourt.
I bet the guy filling his boot with cans of petrol the morning of the budget was happy when it dropped 1p.

It works with the Pay in Kiosk or Pay at Card. So if you select £40 and only pump in below that then when it comes to pay you just pay for whatever fuel you've taken.The man without a signature.0 -

Pumps that had pre-programmed fills were around in the 1960's. The idea just never got transcribed into the digital age for some reason.
Highly dangerous to jam the nozzle open with your filler cap - if the auto-cutout fails to work, you spray petrol everywhere - and try pulling the cap out of the trigger guard while you're being drenched in petrol. That's why the facility is not allowed here.
If the forecourt operator saw you do that he would kill the feed to the pump immediately. Hope you don't do it while you're still smoking.
Everyone prepays in the USA and everyone uses the clip to keep the trigger open, so why isnt it allowed here again? I have never seen ant problems with it in the US and cant remember having problems with them here in the past0 -

No, but I have 40 years experience in the oil industry connected with petrol forecourts and had "splashbacks" happen to me - luckily I was not foolish enough to have the trigger jammed on at the time.
The nozzle contains a small pipe that constantly sucks air from the end because it’s connected to a vacuum at the other end of the hose.
When the tube starts to suck petrol instead of air the change in pressure is detected by a valve which then cuts off the supply of petrol.
It only needs the valve to stick or a blockage in the detector pipe to occur for the auto cutoff mechanism to cease to function.
Latch-on nozzles (as they are called) were quite legal as late as the 1970's but were banned because of exactly those dangers.
You are potentially risking your life, and that of others around you, on the reliability of that mechanism and I can assure you that, albeit seldomly, it does not always work - that is why the practice is banned in this country - it's not because we are uncivilised.0 -
Do people really find it that much of a hardship to keep the trigger squeezed for a couple of minutes when filling their cars then?:cool:0
