a1cat or was it stebiz?, did you get a letter from ASA? Remember we were all wondering what happen to our price check after we submitted our receipts & Tesco make us waited for more than 3 days before they sent it to us. And we all thought that price check was over & done with by Tesco without informing the customers. Well, I got a hard copy from ASA - basically - sorry we can't help you Tesco did nothing wrong. Can scan & post if you guys wanna read it.

maybe they'd show interest if they knew that my local store is advertising DOUBLE the difference TODAY!!!!! Yesterday they said the price check had finished!!! AND, (this is a new one on me) the customer has to sign the original receipt.

i was talking about the above quote couldn't understand why the poster would want to go and buy turners at £9.99 a bottle

Some of us do not have an Asda remotely nearby and it means we can buy TR, which we like a lot! for the Asda price instead of a Tesco tenner.

Obviously it was much better when it worked as part of a meal deal.
    Happy days!

The items in the meal deal have changed, but online they are not showing many items. Was gonna look for another wine to compare with asda if the turners glitch was never actually fixed, but the only one online is the Isla Negra Reserve Merlot. Instore there were others but I can't remember what.

Tesco can 'cheat' if it wants because it knows that not many people will pursue.

However, if people did puruse through the courts, they probaley would not defend as 1) it would not be cost effective for them, 2) thier Pricecheck T&C are too eronerous in law.

To go to court would not cost anything in a lot of peoples cases as if you recieve Tax Credit, it is free to take someone to court.

You might say it is a small amount and not worth the bother, that what Tesco's want you to think. I took Ryanair to court for £15 and won, because they were stupid enough to defend, it cost them in the region of £600.

If you look at the T&C you will see the first one states:

"Price comparisons for in-store purchases are based on what the customer actually buys and the date of purchase or delivery. This includes price reductions and promotions (such as "half price" and "buy one get one free") but not store or category wide promotions such as “buy 6 bottles of wine and get 5% off” or linksave promotions (such as "buy cheese and get crackers free"). These are excluded as it is difficult to make fair comparisons. Products that are purchased on a "reduced to clear" basis will be compared at the price paid at till."

The first point is that they do not put any definitions in the T&C, but use phrases as "such as" this is not a defination and therfore has no legal standing.

They have advised me that the meal deal is a "Linksave promotion". From a customers perspective, I asked how does that differ from the other types of promotions?

They have used the example "such as buy cheese and get crackers free" to me i would read that as a "linksave" product as being you get one free. The meal deal does not give you free, it reduces the price and therefore should be inculded as there is nothing specific to not include it.

Hope this is of some help to someone.

PS The no court fee because of Tax Credits does not apply to applications to the court made on line.

PPS If you are thinking of taking any action, then it may well be advisable to print off thier T&C's before they change them !

They have a few Tesco Finest wines. The only others I can see are the Isla Negra, the Merlot, the Chardonnay & the Chilean Cabernet. The Merlot & Chardonnay are on the Asda website, not sure if the Finest wines would compare with anything.

Edit. Also not sure how they fixed the glitch, whether it was just by making Turners n/a or whether it was making everything in the meal deal including the wine n/a if you see what I mean. Maybe worth a shot though.

Seems from mysupermarket that the isla negra ones are different, the Tesco ones say reserva on them, the asda ones don't and the bottles look different? Although the Tesco website still only lists 2 desserts and 3 mains (one classed as a dessert!) but in my local there were a few more.
