Can the ASA actually make TESCO give vouchers out? Or will they just make TESCO pull the promotion?

As far as I am aware the ASA can only ask them to withdraw the ad and not use it again if it is incorrect (that can take a while). If they are getting responses out saying that they can't find it - that might count as a response in 36 hrs. They could be having technical difficulties with the scheme, or be manually filtering out those they have to give a voucher to. Seems strange ASDA can give a response online and issue a voucher immediately and TESCO have this extra layer...

I'm sure Watchdog, or Martin, would be interested in hearing if Tesco are starting to filter out reciepts so they don't have to pay. Lets see if anyone else gets one.

I believe they can also hit them with a hefty fine, for misleading advertising.

That is what I believe too. The more that send it, the more they'll take it serious. Might teach them a lesson. People power.

I would love to be in the meeting I think some of Tesco management are having.
AGENDA
1.Savvy shoppers force cancellation of DTD and adverse publicity.
2.Replacement scheme RTD conflicts with finest meal deal and is exploited by savvy shoppers.
3.All vouchers put on hold while b0ll0ckings are handed out.
4.ASA now involved.
5.Suggestions as to how we extricate ourselves from this without too much egg on our faces.
6.Report awaited from accounts as to the cost of honouring RTD and the likely cost of not cancelling RTD.
7.Whos responsible for all of this ?
8.Break for lunch

After reading this thread, I bought 2 meal deals on Monday and submitted my receipt details through the pricechecker on Monday afternoon. Have just phoned CS as I haven't received an e-mail as yet, and have just been told that it may take up to 7 days for a reply. :eek:
