Breeze & Wyles - Anybody used these guys for conveyancing?

I'm guessing that you haven't dealt with them then...!?
I'm now 2 months into the process of trying to remortgage and due to their inherent lack of any kind of customer service or communicateion I have flipped to the higher rate on my initial lender and am now £210 out of pocket as a result. Mr O'Brian is receiving an email but I guranatee it wont get a reply or an investigation. All I can do is strongly recomend stearing clear of these people and also steering clear of nationwide as long as they continue using them..!
And yes, I did join just to be rude about them and no I don't work for the competition. I'm just the little man being shat on and told its a nice hat...!!!!
Well said! I wish I was just the competition as I would have nothing to compete against. Angry and frustrated and also having the same problems. BENC123 I totally agree with you and clearly this is someone who has not experienced the frustration themselves!0 -
I don't work for them and my sister is real, I gave genuine feedback in December 2012.
Not every one of their customers is unhappy.0 -
Why didn't you google them before you used them to see what the reviews were like? Why didn't you use a conveyancer who was recommended to you?0

Because Nationwide is a highly respected company. Because when you choose a mortgage and you are offered conveyancing as part of the package, you trust that your mortgage company has done their homework. Yes, that's probably naive on reflection but it's completely illogical to suggest that the users of a service are to blame for the experience they had.
Please don't victim blame. It isn't any of these people's fault that they are suffering as a result of Nationwide's bad choices. Yes, they will learn from this experience. I certainly did and I am telling everyone I know never to use free bulk conveyancing again, from any firm, not just Breeze & Wyles. Am I at fault for accepting the service when it was offered to me? Absolutely not.0 -
Well now you know for next time0
-
Oh there absolutely won't be a next time. I told Mr Halva the only way I'm leaving current property is when they carry me out in a box.
I find it a bit weird that you're smugly trolling a thread that isn't really of any use to you. Generally the point of Money Saving Expert forums is for people to help each other out by sharing experiences and tips on how to handle certain situations.
Telling people that they're either here to rubbish the competition or that they should have known better kind of smacks of schadenfreude. Isn't there's something better to do with your time?
To the people still struggling with Breeze, I do recommend Twitter as a way forward. Nationwide tend to respond quickly if you complain via their @asknationwide account or whatever bank you are using because it's public. I also recommend calling LMS sooner rather than later if things look like they are delayed. Number is: 0845 075 7364. I was eventually compensated by Nationwide for the time I had to spend to-ing and fro-ing on the phone trying to get the process sorted so they do listen if you make enough noise.
If you have only just entered into a mortgage agreement and have the opportunity to turn down free basic conveyancing and find your own, I would definitely do so. It's worth the extra money.0 -
I'm not a troll, I was accused of lying and making up my sister which I did not do.
I was giving my opinion and positive experience and I am entitled to do so just as you are entitled to share your negative experience.
I find it strange that people with one or two posts and very similar styles of writing but different usernames are saying negative things but accept that with a large company there are going to be happy and unhappy customers and the unhappy customers are more likely to vent their venom about their treatment.
As a warning to others, do read reviews and ask for recommendations.0 -
Fair enough, someone did accuse you of lying. I don't think you did lie, for the record. So, yeah, probably trolling is a bit strong - my apologies. I do stand by my comments of you coming across as smug with your 'now you know for next time' type comments. Moving house is one of the most stressful experiences you go through and it's not all that fun to get bashed when you come to a thread seeking support and advice. It's fine to want to share positive experiences - but to suggest that people who don't share your experience are 'rubbishing the competition'. I'm not surprised people were angry at that.
I don't find it particularly strange that lots of people are finding this thread and joining MSE specifically to comment if you think of the number of people applying for mortgages every day and the fact that a lot of mortgage providers are dangling the free conveyancing thing as a carrot. It must be hundreds of thousands. Only a very small percentage are making it here. I only found this thread last year by googling Breeze and Wyles out of frustration. It was right at the top of the google rankings! I was already a MSE member though. Sometimes people just have crap experiences and want to talk about it.
Anyway, I've spent way too much time here. It's been an interesting conversation!0 -
Hi all, Breeze & Wyles seem no worse than any other solicitors so far. Our vendors solicitors have been useless in comparison, and Breeze & Wyles have been good at getting back to us, replying quickly and chasing the useless vendors on the other side.
The main problem is that ALL solicitors are slow and the whole industry enjoys slowing things down and writing letters and making things very complicated.
However, as mentioned, Breeze & Wyles have been comparatively as good as most and I hope to complete on the 25th. Will let people know if there are any issues....!0 -

I am a first time buyer and unfortunately we have also been allocated Breeze and Wyles as our solicitor. For a completely no-chain purchase this should in theory have been a relatively fast transaction, sadly this has not been the case and I actually had to call our bank and retrieve some information myself because the solicitors tried to justify that one letter per week was sufficient in order to chase up paper work.
This has now happened a number of times, and I am at a loss as to why I the paying customer have to do their job for them! It seems they are simply not prepared to pick up the telephone and contact our vendors solicitors or our bank. Everything is done via post or dare I say it FAX... no emails are sent and no phone calls are made.
We are now in a situation whereby we are calling them twice a day... each time I call I get different information and excuses from that of my partner, and each person we talk to we have to explain our situation over again... after spending 15 minutes on hold just to get through to a call centre.
At no point was I able to get through to a supervisor or manager, and despite asking that I get put through so someone who can help me further.
To add insult to injury we are now being told that our case has taken along time because it has changed hands 3 times due to solicitors being on holiday or on maternity leave. Which is fair enough, we are all entitled to both holidays and maternity leave... BUT this is simply not my problem as a customer and I really couldnt care less if staff are on holiday, it certainly isnt an excuse I am willing to accept... since at no point were we informed prior these delays. It was only after 3 phone calls that one of the call center attendants let slip that our case had been passed from pillar to post. Had we been kept in the loop from the off, I'm sure we would have been a little more understanding.
When it came to sending our contract, sale agreement and land registry, my partner had expressly asked that it be sent first class or special delivery as we had made special arrangements with work to get the documents signed and returned the same day (as we were worried that the process was taking so long already) ...needless to say the package didn't turn up on the day it was meant to, and when I telephoned to query this the response was ' It has been posted on (dd.mm.yyyy), have you checked through all your post today? have you checked you are at the correct delivery address? I cannot confirm that your documents were sent out first class.' I was pretty shocked to be patronized like that! The package turned up a day late, with the postage mark dated for the previous day... so that proves that it was clearly not even posted on time, let alone at the time of the phone call... despite promises and reassurances from the solicitors that it would be dispatched the very day my partner had requested it.
At this point I completely lost all faith in the company... they have let us down at every turn...failing to provide even a basic level of service and communication.
If you want a quick and efficient service, bite the bullet and pay more for a capable solicitor. I am extremely unhappy with the following:
- Lack of communication
- Lies about who is handling our case, and generally being 'fobbed off' at every opportunity.
- Failing to actively chase up important documents and generally be productive.
- Call centre staff being very dismissive and sarcastic on the phone
- Poor telephone service in general, especially having to wait at least 10minutes on hold each time you call up.
In conclusion, I have contacted our bank and made a formal complaint. They have now launched an investigation into our case & Breeze & Wyles. I am completely and utterly exhausted in dealing with this company...and I resent having to pay for a frankly shoddy service.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? Is there light at the end of this long tunnel?!
Thanks
Well, 3 years have passed and Breeze & Wyles has not changed a single bit, they are still as "good" (we wish!!) as they were many years ago. Breeze & Wyles deserves to be boycotted and excluded from the society. They manage to drive people insane and become metal ugly beings on earth.
AND, apparently Nationwide does not care about the fact that they're getting mountains of complaints about their choice & supply of solicitors and still continue to use Breeze & Wyles, who will bring the worst out of you!!
If you wish to maintain your humanity and a normal soul, then I urge you to LEAVE AND RUN AND NEVER LOOK BACK TO YOUR ASSIGNED BREEZE WYLES THROUGH NATIONWIDE MORTGAGE PROVIDER!!!0
