i have told the ha , since this started that i wanted to move , as i cant see any end to the antisocial behaviour and verbal abuse i get , but all im told is theres nothing they can do . ive told them i dont mind were i move to as long as its away from here but been told no chance so what am i supposed to do

and no i dont want others to solve "my problem" , i just want advice so I CAN solve my own problems

Do you have a bidding system for properties in your area?

If so, you can fill out an application form and you get put in a band and can then bid on properties and I think there are questions relating to current problems with your home or area etc. There is for Homefinder Somerset anyway.

i have as stated before requested and filled all apropriate forms to move , but the ha im with will not let the people who allocate all the ha's around my area houses know the situation.
But that does not prevent you from applying / bidding on other properties, does it? It gives you a lower priority than you would like, but there is - to put it delicately - a 'natural' progression with sheltered accommodation, so it is not as hard to get as, for example, a five bedroomed house with a garden. There is a limit to the number of people who are eligible for sheltered accommodation, and they tend to move on rather faster than young families.

i also got told last week that there was a spate of trouble at this bungalow last year with the previous tenants that the ha now deney

i went to my doctors 4 weeks ago and told my doctor again what was happening and he was so shocked that he wrote me a letter while i waited , which i handed to my housing officer 2 weeks ago in my bungalow only for her to ignore it totally and leave it when she went saying that it didnt make any difference !!!

ive filled out loads ofincident diarys over the last 6 months , first 7 i posted to the ha (all together & recorded) but they "lost them"

without either the ha or police helping me ive no chance of getting out of this situation
Then this is where the formal complaints procedure comes in. Phone the HA, ask for a copy of the complaints procedure if you can't find it online, and start using it. Almost certainly you have to complain first to the HO's manager, and then to the person above them. However at the same time you can write to your MP.

How did you find out about the previous trouble? Do you know what happened to that tenant?

Can you not apply to different HA's yourself for a different property?

Like you, I don't understand why the OP seems to think that they can't do anything, when in fact they CAN apply for other properties, regardless of whether or not the HA thinks they stand any chance of getting one.

Richie is making as much sense as anyone of why the HA takes that stand, but tenants in social housing are no longer 'allocated' housing or not, there is this thing called 'choice based lettings'. Tenants choose which properties they apply for, within the constraints of what is available and meets their needs.

yes that is how it works in my area BUT even though ive told homepoints (the people who allocate all the different ha's propertys) that im suffering antisocial behaviouh , both in form and via phone call , they cant re band me without my housing officer telling them , which shes refusing to do

So, are you actually on the choice based lettings scheme's list i.e. made an application?

Can't your doctor write a letter explaining what you're having to put up with and the possibility that it may be affecting your health?

but you do not need to wait to be re-banded before you start bidding, do you? If you're willing to go anywhere, with any HA, you should start to see properties. Or am I missing something?

My OH and I are on silver banding too (although this might change soon as I have care and mobility needs so our accommodation isn't suitable).

When we went to see CAB about something unrelated the lady we saw said that it's unusual to be on the list for 2 years and not be nominated for a property but I guess it depends on area and how many people there are bidding etc.

A doctors letter can hold a lot of weight sometimes though so it might be worth getting one to send off anyway and keep a diary of when the events occur and maybe complain if your housing officer is refusing to support your application because living where you are is causing you distress.

  • in the O/P's county wide area there are 5,000 people on the waiting list and approximately only 19 properties available per week. There are 6 + 2 + 2 supported accommodation suppliers ' what they call sheltered ', but the O/P does not fit any of the categories I've outlined including evidence of psychological damage as a direct result of the spacific anti social events targeted at the O/P. It's also the case that the categories of alcohol / physical or sensory / women at risk / gypsies and travellers / homeless or at risk of homelessness / learning disability / mental health etc do not fit, and offer no additional advantage.
