Well you stated you had planned to pay the vat via credit, like everyone else.

So how was that plan coming to fruition?

How does 'everyone' else do this, has everyone set up on of these VAT registered ltd companies?

    Craig,

I am a long term lurker on the MSE forums and have always enjoyed the helpfulness and camaraderie of all the users who post on the site and the wonderful advice they give.

Until, that is, I started reading this thread. I have decided to join specifically to call you out and ask why are you being such a bully?

While I appreciate you have worked in the RM for many years and have gained valuable experience, which you use most of the time to help people, it does not give you the right to twist the Op's question to suite some private agenda of yours and hound him with nonsense responses which is ultimately helping no one.

You don't know who this guy is or what experience he has had. He was simply asking a question and by the looks of it, was only expecting a simple and straightforward answer in return.

Is this site not the best place to ask questions? Is this how we treat new joiners to the site?

Please stop flogging this dead horse. Leave the guy alone and use that knowledge and time of yours to be more helpful.

I'm not sure if you think you know me?
Sadly I'm not who you think I am.
I worked for RM,its been some time since I left.
The poster in question felt the need to 'use' Google for me.
So it would be nice for them to elaborate on their solution they so eloquently offered.
Wouldn't if have been better to post under your own username?

Oh please long-time lurker who signs up specifically to defend a total stranger!!!!!
If you have been a long time lurker you would of come across many many more worthy ops and arguements to defend... The op in this case is hardly a shrinking violet and doesn't exactly come across as needing a jellybelly helping hand.

And learn to read. My query wasn't how I was going to pay the VAT or if i needed to pay the VAT

    Really?

I think you'll find it was!

    So once again.
What was your plan to pay it?

Online, with a credit card. Like everyone else.

To me that reads that the query was exactly about how you planned to pay it. Don't you read what you have posted? And then bizarrely post a reply asking other people if they've learnt to read!

I ordered an item from HK and paid a premium for speedy delivery (delivery in 2 working days).

I received my letter on the 05/02/2016 saying I need to pay VAT (£7.07) and a Clearance Fee (£13.50- Speedy delivery charge as opposed to £8.00 for normal delivery). And since it is now the weekend, delivery will only be made on Tuesday 9th Feb 2016.

My gripe is that I paid for speedy delivery, got charged a clearance fee for speedy delivery yet I have not received speedy delivery service. Even excluding the time taken for HMRC to carry out the checks, it's still taken longer than the 2 working days to deliver the package.

Here is the mail tracking on Hong Kong Post:
    etc...

At the very least I feel I should get a refund for a service I did not receive.
