You paid for the expedited service, and had you pre cleared it or had it come under the customs clearance amounts it would have got there in time.

You pay extra for it to be shipped by a faster service, not to fast track it through customs. The seller paid for the more expensive service, and you got it.

What does Parcelforce do differently when handling a normal package vs an expedited package to justify the higher £13.50?
    From Parcelforce site:
We have two levels of clearance fee for import parcels. There is a charge of £13.50 for express parcels imported with GLS or through the EMS channel from other Posts networks and also for high value standard parcels (valued at over €1000). For all other import parcels, an £8 charge will apply.

FYI my package is not valued at over €1000.

That is all I'm asking. Any insight into this will be appreciated.

£13.50 is the standard charge applied by PF, £8 is what Royal Mail charge. You are paying your supplier for a faster service which is likely to to involve different parcel delivery companies at each end, but clearance will not be any faster.

According to their site Parcelforce will charge either £8 or £13.50

It says EMS "and also" items over 1000. Your item was EMS or equivalent.

Maybe yours was processed quicker? Who knows. EMS items and the like are scanned every step of the way, so maybe the extra scan time and handling time in customs is valued at 5.50. I was never going to get through it in the 2 day timeframe if it was over the goods limit and not pre cleared.

Lesson learnt- Not worth paying for the speedy shipping if buying from outside the EU.

What's worse is that even after paying their extortionate fees promptly on Friday afternoon, and the package being located in the London south east depot (11 miles from my house), the earliest they will deliver my package is Tuesday. So much for the expedited shipping.

Do you have any insight into the link you posted about supposedly being to be able to pay your own VAT but when I log into that link there is no way to pay it. Are you going to give me any insight as to why your link and then option to pay for VAT doesn't then exist?

You smugly Googled it for others but didn't then seem to to check whether it actually could do what you stated it could do!

Start you own VAT registered limited company.

And learn to read. My query wasn't how I was going to pay the VAT or if i needed to pay the VAT. My query was about the PF Clearance Fee price difference.

Well you stated you had planned to pay the vat via credit, like everyone else.

So how was that plan coming to fruition?
