Hull to Leeds - Daily Train Commute Doable?

LOL... Sorry, its me mentioning about the guy I used to work with.
Yes, traffic is bad doing it in that direction. Starts queuing from J31 around 7-7.30am. Up to there its quite clear. Can take a good half hour to get down the M621 stretch and into the city centre. Journey home isn't really a problem.
Are you sure about that? I used to regularly make this journey at 7am from Pontefract to Headingley going M62 > M1 > M621 > A643 > A58 and it was extremely rare that I got caught in any traffic at all.
I only stopped making the journey daily - 2 months ago.0 -
When i used to work odd days in Leeds (travelling from Co Durham) I used to leave my car in one of the stations in the outskirts of Leeds and go in by rail -- far less hassle than driving to/from the city.
Something similar might be the best plan from Hull as well -- the roads in Humberside aren't all that bad IME.
But why when the OP is asking if it is possible to commute by train.one of the famous 50 -

I did it for 16 years, sometimes twice a day. I still do that stretch once every fortnight on a Monday and it is the same as it was when I was driving for a living.0 -
There's plenty of room on the trains, I see them at Selby (last stop before Leeds) occasionally.0

Is that during the rush hour?
Anyway, thanks for all the replies everybody. I've had a look on Google and the place I might be interested in is 4.5 miles by road from the main station but is within walking distance of several bus routes.0 -
Just had a look for train times. If I wanted to get to Leeds between, say, 8 and 9 in the morning there's only two trains available and one of those involves a change. Hmmm...maybe I might need to rethink the commuting idea.0

Why not, drive down the M62 to Jnc 32 Xscape, leave the car at the station there, and get on a train for the rest of the Journey. I don't know the times though.
If you will be 4.5 miles from Leeds station what direction would that be in?

I was in Leeds station yesterday and found the staff extremely friendly and helpful especially the station commander sitting in his little control booth on the platform, he was the master of all he surveyed and looked liked he owned the place with his cap on in the captains chair. Made me chuckle!0

Because the subject of travelling by car also arose. Do keep up!0
