Apologise if this sort of question has already been asked many times! :o
I was just wondering if a daily commute from Hull to Leeds by train is doable/practical? I know the distances that are involved but I have no idea really on what the state of train commuting is like in that part of the world as I don't currently live there.
Thanks.

    It takes on average about an hour and there's a direct Transpennine Express service. As it's a commute I assume you will want to travel before 09:30 in the morning, if this is correct then a season ticket will be your cheapest option;

    Hull to Leeds
    7 day £88
    1 month £338
    3 month £1013.80
    6 month £2027.60
    1 year £3520

    Ok thanks for that. So, on the face of it, it's quite doable - allowing for any time at either end of course.

    I used to work with someone in Hull who used to drive from Leeds every day. Even as a wagon driver, it took me a little over an hour to drive from Hull to Leeds.

    I've heard the M62 can be a bit of a pain at peak times though. Not sure if that's true or not though.

    The M62 is usually worse the further west you go. It depends which part of Leeds you need to be as to how far west you need to go, but most of the approach roads into the city centre will be pretty choc-a-bloc at peak times. And you will also need somewhere to park.

    Yes. from J28 to J25, both directions for most of the day and from J31-29 westbound in the morning. The OP would be travelling in the opposite direction and once they get to Ferrybridge, there's no holdups at all.

    The OP is travelling from Leeds to Hull - they're going in the other direction. ;)

    LOL... Sorry, its me mentioning about the guy I used to work with.

    Yes, traffic is bad doing it in that direction. Starts queuing from J31 around 7-7.30am. Up to there its quite clear. Can take a good half hour to get down the M621 stretch and into the city centre. Journey home isn't really a problem.

    When i used to work odd days in Leeds (travelling from Co Durham) I used to leave my car in one of the stations in the outskirts of Leeds and go in by rail -- far less hassle than driving to/from the city.

    Something similar might be the best plan from Hull as well -- the roads in Humberside aren't all that bad IME.
