Has anyone any experience with the Virgin Prepaid Travel Card?
I go away to Zante/Laganas for a week at the end of June and I'd rather carry one of these about than keep the best part of 700euro cash in some dodgy hotel.
Seems alright on the face of it - free emergency card, free to load money onto it etc. The only real snag I can see is the 1.50euro fee when withdrawing cash from an ATM, which is all I'll use it for. What's the crack when it comes to getting the money back in your usual bank account when you return home with these cards?
PS. Sorry for the bump, a quick Google search brought up this thread so thought I might aswell use it!0 -

Why bother, now that you know the best card for your trip?0 -

I wouldn't be advertising your actions here. Certainly doesn't show your good judgement when it comes to your finances.0 -
Ahhh, no way!
I've just clicked on the BUY IT NOW link on the Travelex Cash Passport Globe section of their website which took me to the order page. Anyway, I've somehow managed to get rid of that option and click on the Prepaid Currency Card option. I've went ahead without realising and purchased £460 worth (501 euros)...
Is it worth ringing up to try and cancel my order or just stick with the currency card?
Signed,
A complete and utter prat!0 -

Won't hurt to try to cancel, but do it quickly.0 -
I'll get onto it now, cheers!
If worse comes to worst and I'm stuck with this currency card, what's the drawbacks?0 -

Worst is if you wish to spend in the UK and outside the Euro Zone. That will cost another 5.75%.0 -
Ah, doesn't sound too bad. I was just planning on just withdrawing, say, 50euro cash a day from an ATM while I'm there and then just withdrawing the lot on my last day in cash anyway. I just didn't fancy keeping 500euro cash in the 18-30 hotel I'm stopping at.0

It's certainly not a terrible mistake. May be 8 euros in it, all things being equal.0
