Travelex Cash Passport Globe or Caxton Euro.0

I have the Caxton Euro card and find it works really well. The initial load is about 2.5% off the interbank rate (but still better than you'll get an an exchange counter) and then all ATM and card transactions are totally free (well apart from any charge levied by the operator of the ATM)
The Caxton website isn't the best in the world but it's perfectly usable.
In addition to a pre-paid card I would always take a credit card for emergencies.0 -
FairFX Eurocard - providing you can get the card for nothing like I dfid through this wonderful site  - otherwise it cost around a tenner, but still fantastic rates0

Absolutely not.
If you meant the Travelex Cash Passport Globe, it has already been mentioned.0 -
what's the matter with a Travelex Passport? I was thinking about getting one with 500euros on it, then was reading up about Travelex Globe.....this is all for just a 7 day visit to Italy, and now I don't know which one to get. Can anyone advise further, please?0

If you were to get the Travelex Euro prepaid card you could load 500 Euro at a cost of £454. (1.110 Euro per £)
advantage/disadvantage - you have locked in your rate
If you were to get the GLOBE card and load £454 on to it, to withdraw at a foreign ATM ,todays Mastercard rate (1.141) less 1.49% transaction fee (518 Euro less 1.49% = 510 Euro ie 2% more
advantage/disadvantage - your money is held in GB£s until point of sale/withdrawal so rate subject to up/down fluctuation
A good easy site to check Mastercard rates is http://www.freedom-card.co.uk/currency-converter.aspx although that pp card isnt particularly good value for money0 -

Personally, I prefer to lock in the rate. At least that way you know exactly how much in Euros (or Dollars) is left on the card for you to spend. It helps with budgeting and stops you have to keep converting back to pounds. You actually start thinking in terms of the local currency.0
