Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 17th May. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
We're off to work soon, just having a cuppa & some breakfast then I'll feed the fish & set off.
Pork steak for tea tonight for hubby, I'll have scrambled egg as I can't eat pork.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good Morning Hester and all to follow.
Been up a while
think my mattress needs turning as backache keeps waking me up then it goes off as soon as I am up.
Nothing exciting planned today, office work, some housework and ironing. DD needs dropping at school lunchtime, she only has 1 exam today.
Think will have roast chicken for dinner tonight.
Thats it for me, seems very boring :rotfl:

Good morning HH, EG and all to follow.
Grey and cool here.
Dinner tonight will be cottage pie for 7. DD1 and I cooked a double amount of meat mixture last time as we had to use up the minced beef. So half the cooked mixture was frozen. That is in the fridge defrosting. So today all I need to do is peel spuds and grate cheese. DD1 will then create her signature dish and place in oven to cook:)
This is one of DH's and DSIL's favourite meals ever, so they'll be happy bunnies!
HH- your dress pattern looks lovely. All the best for making it up x
Happy Tuesday everyone, hugs to those in need or want x
Cheers m'dears, Silver xOutside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Morning Hester , Essex girl, silver maid & all who follow
Damp & dreich here today, been up since 5.30 - keep waking very early, don't know why because I'm absolutely shattered.
Got emergency childminding job starting today, so I've spent the last few days sorting the necessary paperwork & making sure we've extra stuff in to feed another child.
Waiting to hear whether I've got one of the jobs I went for, should hear today; got down to the last 2 of more than 130, so I think that's a result even I don't get it this time!
Got a few more applications in the pipeline as well.
Tea is something quick as it's my night class, so giving the kids a main meal at lunchtime, left over veg from last night & some fish fingers or eggs. It's my birthday today, but we had birthday tea last night because of night class & new child starting today - at least we could have relative calm! Will still get a bottle of something to have a little glass when I get back tonight.
Hope you all have a good day - sorry to all the news I've missed the last few days - hugs & kisses as needed, help yourself! :kisses2: :grouphug: See you later.

Morning everyone,
Still cold and miserable here but the washing dried yesterday so I will give it a go today.
DS has a RE GCSE exam today but I am sure that I am far more nervous about it than he is!
Tea tonight will be more of the huge supply of meatballs from the freezer that I made 2 weeks ago, I hope the family don't get fed up with them.
Tonight I am off out to my dance class, looking forward to that.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -

JackieO thinking of you today on your dear DHs birthday. Glad you have some company to help you through the day:). I love hearing your stories about your life together...if DH and I have half as happy a life as you two had then we will be very lucky indeed:D0 -

Morning Hester and all who follow.
((Hugs))NPM.
I'm another one who isn't sleeping......Dollycat wanted to go out at 4.am again.....!
Feeling dispirited today and have been cranky all weekend. I wondered why and then had a brainwave-I looked on your site Hester and it's the full moon today. Aha I think that's the problem, well that and not sleeping. Was going to march in today and tell my boss where to shove it but maybe I'll just see how it goes.....
6.25 OH announces that he's walking to work. That's an hour each way. He did it last week too.
Tea tonight is something with mince-probably cottage pie. Also got half a cauli to use up.
Have a good day everyone

:grouphug: NPM I know that feeling, mine eventually went for about £75 to someone who hires them out, it too was a designer dress at £1150 new. Will try & find her details if you'd be interested? Or why not consider donating it to a charity for auction if you are not counting on that money coming in for your sums?
Just a quick post to say DH is back from his 3 day trip to South Africa - 2 nights on planes & 1 in a hotel
We also went & spent a scarey amount on ordering our new bathroom suite the other day....the 10-day without bathroom scenario has now extended to 15 days
.....oh well, it will be worth it in the end!
Things still not certain at work and staff are very twitchy but no firm news yet. Have got a few things up my sleeve, but nothing set in stone.
Will pop back later, have a good day all, :grouphug: to those who'd like one.
Love,
Floss xx0 -
Morning

Hello..Can I join?! Been reading a little bit for a while.
Happy birthday cheapskate.
Tuesday is a work day for me, taken hm ragu and chilli (I think!) out of the freezer for dinner tonight.
We should get a call from the garage today as to how much our car is going to cost - it's the engine so its going to be a lot....hubby is deciding whether to get fixed and then sell for something cheaper and then using the profit to bump the bank balance back up from the bill or to keep as the cars engine should be fine for sometime....what to do for the best. There is always something.
The sun is shining, so washing to go out (wm just finished spinning).
I'll check in again this evening (Banned from non-work related sites at work!).
