I like to leave a lasting impression. Admittedly they aren't normally good impressions but I'm remembered all the same!

I think the problem is when you have your lightbulb moment (even if a semi one) this site takes over your life. That's no bad thing but I bet a lot of people take what they need over the first month or so, and then gradually have to filter back into offline life. If they continue with what they've learnt on here then that's great and I agree in that I bet a number of them continue to lurk. Posting takes so much time and it's not always easy to fit in to a busy lifestyle!
I do think there are some though who start off with the best intentions but then fall off the wagon never to return. I wouldnt say they weren't having a proper lightbulb as even the old hands on here know easy it is to slip. Either way we welcome everyone back, cast no judgement, dust ourselves down and start all over again!!

I found that I was spending so much time on here lurking, seeking advice, tips and hugs that I wasn't getting on with SOA, contacting people and sorting out DMP. It can be addictive! I like to think that people have moved on with their debt situation and are busy sorting it, but hope that everyone will come back now and then to tell everyone how they are doing. Theres nothing better than a success story to encourage the rest of us and to inspire 'beginners' to get going.Mutual Supporters club member (Nov 2006)

I agree with many of you above, people come on here for advice and support about their debts. However maybe reality hits them when they see there is no quick fix. What I have found is some posters who have come on here seeking advice about their debts post regularly at first then go away for a while, come back a few months later to say how much the advice had helped them and how much better things were but they had also consolidated their debts! I can think of 2-3 even now!
At the end of the day paying back your debts is very much a personal journey and only one you can travel. However people choose to clear their debts (as long as its legal) is up to them, and like molanole said we welcome all posters on back on here - no judgements or recriminations. I personally will be a regular poster on here forever I think, this forum has helped me more than I can say.Debtfree JUNE 2008 - Thank you MSE:T0 -
I came on her for the first time a month or so ago when I was feeling suicidal. I am happy to say I am now well on my way to starting my DMP and life looks so much better. I can only access this at work and feel a bit guilty for doing so but it has been a life saver as the support and advice has been invaluable. I do have a quick look at the site each morning as it keeps me feeling postive about the day ahead but to be honest life is so busy I rarely get a chance to do much more than that, I suspect it's the same for many others. Be assured those of you who regularly post you are an inspiration to us lurkers!x0

Some people might still lurk to gain advice but they don't want to post very much. Some people never post. I do worry for those cwho post desperate messages then disapear. They don't do it to scare us, I sometimes think of them going off to deal with things alone or burrying their heads back in the sand. Hey somedays I want to stick my head in the sand too.
All we can do is try our best to help, to reach out if they do post and to show its possible to become debt free through our own achievements.Barclaycard 3800

I'm still about although 'hangs head in shame' haven't particularly took the bull by the horns re my debt.
However I have put my house up for sale, I have stopped buying takeaways- well not as many, I haven't been impulse buying food in supermarkets and them old style lot have definately left their mark re stardrops and cooking from scratch.
To second the sentiment this site is hyper addictive and I feel that I have a trillion ideas to use. Its all a step at a time.
Oh and for those who read one of my orginal long threads..........................THE NITS ARE GONE !!!!! :rotfl:DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

I may get blasted for this but sometimes I think a lot of posters don't get help because of the mass of other threads, diaries etc. which get commented on daily or at least more often

I've asked for help several times for my father since I've sorted my mum's affairs with the great help here, and no-one answers. There are always threads which get no answers

Maybe DFW should be split into sub boards DFW community and DFW SOA?
