Been thinking for a while about a large number of folks that come to this board and post about dreadful situations that they find themselves in.Often for a period there is a lot of cross posting and suddenly the Op vanishes, never to be heard of again.I guess the odd troll may do that but even cynical old me believes that most of these dire condition posts are genuine.Any thoughts?

i guess sometimes it's just too much for some people to manage. i know i can have a short attention span and get bored of things quickly or perhaps life just takes over and they don't have the time to keep posting.
i just hope that whatever happens to them they carry on with the dfw path alone rather than falling off the edge.0 -
I think you come here when you need help but it can be too much sometimes, you need a break or the answers you needed have been given so you move on.
Just a fact of forums i think
Total Joint Debt £139k
Proud to be dealing with our debts:T0 -
I think 99% are genuine.
I imagine some post before their true lightbulb moment and the prospect that all this !!!! is not just going to go away is too much to bear. I know thats how I felt for a while. It's just too big to deal with sometimes.0 -
Maybe we tell them to cut all their bills and sell everything so they cancel the internet and ebay the PC!

Or maybe they are looking for a quick fix and aren't ready to seriously knuckle down and become debt free. Some people may even forget they posted on here!

IMHO I think it can be a bit daunting to some people as well. I bet a lot of the posters lurk a great deal, taking advice and inspiration. A lot of the time thats just what I do and then I have posting periods when I post quite a bit. Its getting to your own comfort level I suppose!Total Debt at start of challenge : ££26563.92

TBH I originally posted at the start of the year but then the CAB sorted out a DMP of sorts and just got on with that and everything was going OK.
Then had to change jobs and times are hard again and have got more time on my hands so have been on here more often getting advice re current situation and reading other peoples stories.Orignal debt £31k 2005; reduced to just under £27k Sept 2008 New debt: Capital One Card £1000; mortgage arrears £1,252
Current Total Debt = £29k
Proud to be dealing with my debts!
