Low Emission Bulbs That Can Cope With Dimmer Switches

OK, here's my tuppence worth on the subject of low emission bulbs

megamanuk.com; £9.95 a bulb from lamps2udirect.com). These are compatible with all dimmer switches, endorsed by the Energy Saving Trust. They have a four-step dimming system, from 100 per cent to 5 per cent brightness in four easy twiddles of the knob.Despite the expense, I am very tempted. I note the endorsements of Megaman in earlier posts, but has anyone tried these DorS bulbs?

Thanks for the info. I've been looking for some dimmable bulbs - my only problem with these is the low light output. Its not easy to fathom, but the 11 watt provides 570 Lumens of light (the important number in terms of how bright they are), which seems equivalent to less than 50 watt of normal light bulb output.

I am still having problems both getting any bright low energy bulbs which actually fit my existing lamps, and getting dimmable bulbs.

    Cheers

I found some energy saver small bayonet candle bulbs in Boyes yesterday - they were the spiral type and cost £2.49 (much cheaper than the ones I was going to buy online)

Heres the link to Boyes website - they are in the North East and some of the Midlands.

The daylight bright ("SAD") energy saver light bulbs are very good, they save energy / low wattage, yet give out an excellent bright daylight type light.

bought 2 for 99p today (100w eq.). Not bad at all, turn on straight away on flicking the light switch unlike the older ones which took a while to "warm" up.

They used to be £1 with "buy one, get one free" for ages. I have a stack of them, they work great, highly recommended :)
