Good morning flyladies and gents!
We are back from the wedding of the year - which was a lovely day and a great success for my little sis. Bride looked radiantly happy and groom's family (met for the first time!) are lovely. The cake, I am pleased to report, went down well. Anyone want to see??

Best weekend for housework I've had recently! Washed down the external paintwork (at ground floor level) and hoovered stairs. Decluttered LR table and polished it. DH did some external painting. Then day out on Sunday.

Valli re your kitchen. Have a look at Howdens who only supply to trade - if you can get a recommendation for a kitchen fitter from friends/family/colleagues - it can work out an awful lot cheaper than a retail kitchen. We had ours from B&Q which was an absolute nightmare. The units are reasonable quality, the worktops are not great, price wise for a high st kitchen it wasn't too bad, but the fitter was completely incompetent. We had a year long dispute through the furniture ombudsman which resulted in over £2000 awarded back to us in compensation (about 20% of total cost) I would avoid B&Q like the plague if I was doing it again.
A fitter can either ruin expensive cupboards or make cheap cupboards fit well and last a reasonable time so I would say that is the most important factor. We did get a couple of appliances from B&Q as those were actually the cheapest prices we could find. Fridge freezer and oven we got from tinternet retailers. Make sure you examine every single cost in a quote/order to see if you can get it cheaper elsewhere from builders merchants, online places etc - taps, sinks, door handles etc etc Also, re tiles - we had all our tiles from a tile merchant supplying to trade - we went up there to choose and the builder put in the order. I wouldn't pay retail prices for tiles again. Except for my small weakness for Fired Earth tiles................but thats different!0 -
