Sold a car from Carcraft that has been clocked

The fact is this - Clocking mileage is an offence, and if Car Craft have 'knowingly' sold you a vehicle with a mileage discrepancy or have given you false information about a HPI check, you have six years to take them to a small claims court, so my suggestion is, tell them this, and if you want to go ahead and take them to court over it, you can - you're still within your rights to do so.0

Never said it was. The OP hasn't said that Carcraft did one anyway.
Yes he has.william1974 wrote: »I have spoken to carcraft and they stated that when they purchase their cars do a full HPI on all cars. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

No it isn't.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

No he hasn't william1974 wrote: »I have spoken to carcraft and they stated that when they purchase their cars do a full HPI on all cars. If it was/is a typo, I should, have been informed by carcraft at the time of purchase about the error, or if it is indeed that it has been clocked, they still then should have informed me. there were no stickers, labels anything to say that there could be a problem with the HPI william1974 wrote: »I have spoken to carcraft and they stated that when they purchase their cars do a full HPI on all cars. All he's saying is that he's just been told be someone at carcraft that they HPI'd cars when they themselves purchase the car, not that the OP had one done for him, or indeed he requested one, when HE purchased the car.0

Care to tell us what "offence" that is?Okay, to get more technical then -Selling a car with clocked mileage is an offence. Either way, OP has right to take Car Craft to small claims
 - To be even more technical "selling a clocked car, without telling the buyer that it is or may be clocked" is illegal
Also, again there is no physical evidence that this car has been clocked.0

Pretty obvious isn't it? As I wrote "Selling a clocked car without telling..." . Surely if Car Craft carried out a HPI check, then they would have spotted the discrepancy and would then have to alert the seller...But they didn't, but I agree , there's no evidence the car has been clocked, however - Car Craft sold the car stating they've carried out a HPI check, and so, have sold the car as 'HPI Clear' - unless they put 'HPI NOT CLEAR, MILEAGE DISPLAYED MAY NOT BE ACCURATE' or something on the car advert.
 Misleading sell / False advertising / Not declaring a problem? - Offence?0

Again nowhere has the OP stated that Carcraft, at the time of selling him the car stated that they had HPI checked this particular car and it was HPI clear, I totally agree had they done so then the OP would have a much stronger case than he has.Pretty obvious isn't it? No, but CARCRAFT themselves say:As the UK's leading car supermarket, Carcraft offers a wide range of used cars fromour 11 showrooms nationwide. Every car we sell is HPI checked and goes through a120 point inspection. We do everything we can to help you Drive Happy.
That's where I got that info from - It was the case three years ago too, when a friend of mine bought a car from car craft - which ended into a spiral of problems for him as well.0
