I said to hubby this evening that it looks like the swallows have gone. We usually see them gathering a couple of days before they leave, but I've not seen them do that this year and I've only seen one swallow today.
Ours have gone too....saw them all lined up on a roof this morning but definitely not flying around tonight
Just need to see the flocks of geese flying south and then I know we're really on our way into winterAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0 -
Oh me too - I'm waiting and watching for the geese. I love them going over.0

We have had the first geese go over on Thursday night, DGS was fascinated with the noise. Doesn't bode well - its too early.. Its amazing how nature works, and we use pointers like these to guage weather forecasts - probably more accurate than anything else.
It goes to show these wee creatures are clever little devils!Every days a School day!0 -

My parents live in Southport so you get the geese flying over there on their way to/from Marshside and Martinmere. Unfortunately over here we don't get a single one. It's a shame because I love listening to them.0 -
Seemingly we're under the flight path here and in winter you see loads of them in the fields a mile or two up the road. We still have two lonely swallows batting about in the wind here, poor wee souls .I will keep watching for them, not seen any as yet. I actually like winter, must be because I'm a Capricorn - its my season:)0

I have just found out that what I thought was thunder or fireworks last night was in fact a shooting party on a distant estate picking out the geese. That explains everything.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

They are very clever and I love seeing them. I'm surprised you've seen them already....I haven't seen any up here yet. Maybe they sneaked past me
As I'm a typical Leo I'm a sun baby and hate the winterAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0
