Good lord did you actually read this thread? if YOUR dish is on MY property of cause I can remove it and hand it back to you.

So if you park your car on my drive, I can move it and you wouldn't consider that theft?

Quite frankly, yes. Especially if (to take the analogy further) I had taken the wheels off my car and bolted it into your driveway (as is the case with a Sky dish).

You would have every right to get it removed from your property, and charge me for the damage to your drive.

Motor vehicles have differing laws to other property but personally no.
If you discussed the issue with me and gave me 7 days to remove the car, then you moved it off your property and returned it to me undamaged? then no of cause not I would find that very fair.

The OP stated that the neighbour wasn't very reasonable. That's my thinking behind removing the dish not being a good idea. If the neighbour is as unreasonable as is made out, then I suspect he'll ignore the letter, or worse, come threatening to thump the OP if he touches the dish.

In both cases removal of the dish without permission could be considered theft. I doubt the neighbour would be as understanding as you had I removed your car.

They have installed the dish a few centimetres above our front room window.
Depending on the flat design then the dish may well be sited totally on the upstairs neighbour's property. Just because he can see it doesn't mean it encroaches on his property

Absolute cobblers - if the dish is removed and returned to the owner there is no theft.

So the neighbour can still receive sky tv while the dish is removed??
If the answer is yes, then you're right.

But if the unreasonable neighbour is unable to receive sky tv due to removal of said dish, then he is prevented from receiving what he is paying for.

The physical dish may be returned, but the loss of tv would be theft.

Even more absolute cobblers. If installed on my property then that is not my problem but the problem of the installer who illegally put the dish on my property without permission who would also be liable to either repair or compensate for any damage caused to my property and if this was done with the knowledge of the dish's owner then he too would be liable for this.

To the OP note also that if the installer followed Sky's Health and Safety regulations then he may also have drilled into the wall without your permission to install an "eye bolt" to secure his ladder. I would check for this and make sure that any such damage to your wall (if any) has been discretely repaired.

Has the OP confirmed whether it is affixed to his property (below his ceiling level) or just encroaches his airspace?
