Its exactly the same, if the dish is legally sited then polite communication is all that is required...

...if feasible, I'd agree, but the OP indicated he's not optimistic about the neighbour's likely reaction.
I'm amazed that you think the least "aggro" way is not to discuss it but to whack it with a broom, nice.

Practical demonstration of the problem. Least said, soonest mended. :)
If it is not legally sited then as I suggested give 7 days and then remove and hand back.

Now you see, that seems MUCH more heavy-handed to me.

shall I scratch my neighbours Mondeo? that's an eyesore.

Don't be silly - but if he has a caravan, you are OK to set fire to that !

So you communicate the issue nicely give a reasonable 7 days to resolve, then legally remove from your property and hand back, or not say anything and bash it with a broom? its the difference between being assertive and aggressive.

I would guess that even if you are not seen acting like a loon with a broom the fact the dish no longer works and has bloody great dents may lead the neighbour to be a little peeved when he has to go without TV for a fortnight and may well call the police if a pleasant chap or bop the op on the nose.

Wow, if you don't think removing a neighbour's satellite dish is aggressive we'll have to agree to differ!

Whereas he wouldn't be peeved at having the dish removed altogether...

Effectivelty theft since you're removing the facility of sky that the neighbour has paid for.
If you removed my dish that I was paying for I'd have the cops at your door.

As I said IF the dish is on YOUR property then clearly it has to be removed as it is on YOUR property, this is not complicated.

The neighbour will have 7 days to remove HIS property form YOURS and will have plenty of notice. Wether he is peeved is not an issue as you will have the law clearly on your side.

This option is legal and neighbourly, your suggestion to bash the dish is illegal and aggressive no matter who's land it is on.

I am happy to disagree we you on this matter, as I do with most illegal aggressive acts, not all but most.

Has a Sky 'Engineer' install a neighbours dish on my wall at my old flat. Luckily I was in when I heard the drilling .

Went down and gave him what-for, and to rectify the damage he had just done. Very sheepishly he complied.

Then I got an earful from the neighbour who said I was ruining Christmas viewing for her children :(

Luckily the installer managed to work out a solution that attached the dish to her wall, but extended it higher using a pole mount. As it was on a blind wall and not visible from any of my windows I was OK with this as it wasn't fixed into my wall.

The OPs situation sounds 10x worse than mine with the dish visible directly through the window. If the fixing is below the ceiling line (i.e on their wall) they have every right to remove it. If it isn't, but causing visual disturbance, I'd check out the lease and get the landlord to enforce it if it bans fixtures on the outside of the building.

Glad you are entertained but not sure what is confusing you within the text you have chosen to make bold?

If the neighbour has been communicated with AND given 7 days to remove something from your property then that is very neighbourly, if he is peeved after all that then it is not an issue, as you have done all you could.

If you are still confused then it is probably best that you carry on solving your issues by hitting things ;)
