The speedo needle bounces like hell from 0-40 and then settles down a bit. I have no idea what speed I'm actually doing in the area where I'd be most likely done for it though :rotfl:
Hooked up a cigarette lighter socket today so will hopefully be able to get my sat nav on the go most of the time for a more accurate speed reading.
Priced up gear linkage rods at Pug today - ~£18 each + VAT
Flicked through a Haynes manual - suggests doing the linkage from under the car....0 -

I would be very surprised if the car didn't have the speedometer driven electronically from the ECU.0 -
I'd be surprised if an old 1l 106 had an ecu. Best you'll get is it hasn't got points.
I think they meant my Picanto, in relation to stopping it from recording mileage.
A lot of modern cars won't start if the instrument cluster is disconnected.
My 1992 106 certainly doesn't have any electronic trickery :rotfl::cool:0 -

That sounds more like it.
I wouldn't like to do that linkage from under the car though, it was accessable from the top, just not possible to get any leverage the cups off.0 -

Surely it'd be easier from under the car? It looked easier in the photos
Oh BTW....I think it's the same sort of linkages, same layout, and no difference in the haynes manual.
"Uprated" linkages advertised for the GTI and others are cheaper than original Pug ones - they'll be the same too?0 -
We had one, still had the original exhaust when it was 10 years old... I know this because we sold it on to a friend and he's still running it, and I bet he's spent less on it than we have on the car that we replaced it with.
Cavernous boot, great car, don't know why I was ever talked into replacing it...Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

This one had a new exhaust in 2009 as far as I can tell (it failed MOT then, and the exhaust looks new)0

I don't know I'm afraid, they look the same in the book, but I've only ever had to do the link running across the back of the engine.
I just got a quote for the battery (it came with the car, and it may be a little suspect after a lot of short runs, with the glow plugs running it down)
£72 + vat trade form Peugeot
same size battery is £40 + vat trade from Vauxhall.0
