Is the site so bad now that users have to be told to be nice to "newbies"?!

Should this apply to people who registered a long time ago but have never posted when they first post?

I ask this because I have just see a first post from someone registered in September 2007, and not classified as a "Newbie" despite being a "new poster", which is also text that appears in your graphic.

What about protecting existing members from trolls with numerous AE's? Maybe instead of a fancy badge the first couple of posts should be monitored for trolling activity

It's the fault of existing members for interacting with them remember?

well my newbie badge has now gone, and I've only just noticed - d'oh
It didn't bother me at all, but then perhaps I've been lucky with replies.
As said above, it is sad though that a great forum this size should have to remind its members how to behave, but then, it appears to be the way in lots of other groups too.
Didn't radio 2 close its message boards because of bad behaviour
