I think that makes the Tmobile deal better as with the cashback it works out about the same price but with more data allowance. I find data on smartphones really useful and if you're in a 3G area speeds can be good. Personally I wouldn't go lower than 500mb a month when choosing a deal.

P.S What are we doing up at this time of night?! :)

I have a Desire on the following -

    Free Phone
24 months with Orange and they offer 'magic numbers' ie free calls to one other person on Orange and that means my missus (bonus !)
    200 mins
    Unltd Texts
    250 mb data
    £20 p month

Pleased with phone, fitted my budget and my usage. Happy with deal which was at phones4u AND got really good service as well - ticked all the boxes I needed.
Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.

This is the exact reason I'm holding off on a mobile at the moment, the options seem to be get an iphone which lasts marginaly longer (and costs the price of a long family holiday abroad) or get one of the other top brands and charge twice daily- or just don't use it.

I see no point in paying more money then I want to for a phone I have to carry around a charger for and anticipate the nearest power point everywhere I go.

As a result I've been waiting for the battery issue to be sorted since the end of Feb and am actually getting used to not having a mobile! I hope they sort the issue soon or I may never have one again.

battery life on Smart phones has been an issue since they existed
if its such a worry then just get a spare battery to carry

I like my Desire, but I have to say honestly it's not designed for changing the battery easily. It requires far more effort for opening the back cover than any other phones I've had so far. I don't think that the back cover will last long if you do this every day.

Don't know about Desire S, but I hope it is designed differently.
EDIT: they do seem to have changed the design.

I picked up the HTC wildfire at E2Save

    (Talk Mobile Deal)
    300 mins +
    1000 texts
    + 1GB data

£18 per month for 24 months but with redemption it works out to £8.25 per month. Also dont forget if you use Quidco you getr £46 back.

Works out to abut £7 a month all in > GREAT DEAL.

Really? I thought the back cover was fine and easy to get off, indeed many do it for supposed better photo quality all the time. Mind you easier than an iPhone to change battery!

For those complaining I've never found battery life on smartphones that bad unless it is heavy usage. A overnight charge and keeping it topped up if heavy uses or you get an opportunity is fine. At the start is shocking but it improves too. For example my phone came off the charge at 7am this morning and despite GPS use to record bike ride, browsing all day (web, facebook and maps), and some calls and texts it is still on 36%. That is not too bad.

I don't want to have to do that: nor do I want to be charging up two batteries every night- I am therefore without a mobile and its not so bad, I'm actually getting used to it and very much getting used to not having to worry about the bill! I think I'll hold off, paying for an additional battery, fiddling around with the thing mid day like a teenager with a sim on a nokia 3310....nope, sorry not gonna happen! I'll hold off on that one and wait for them to fix the issue or just carry on going without: I can just about get my head around charging once a day but twice? thats just going too far! Not value for money if I'm having to be on my guard fiddling around remembering to carry an accessory pack/charger/etc with me!

Each to their own but not for me. I'll wait.

Smartphone battery life isnt great but there are some simple tips...

make sure gps, wifi is turned off
    use an app like juicedefender
lower the brightness of the screen

Also make sure on a new phone charge the battery then let it
compeletly drain, do this 4/5 times apprarently it gives your battery
    a workout and improves it.

I have had my HTC Desire for 3 weeks and at the moment
it get 1 Day 10 Hours use out of it. I class my self as a moderate
user i.e web browsing, listen to music at the gym, play games etc...
