HTC Desire S: Value for money?
Comments
-
The only thing that bothers me about the Desire S is the poor battery life. Its difficult to get a good feel on the internet for how long I can expect it to last in normal conditions. Some report as little as 4 or 5 hrs use and others say it lasts 2 days. It would have to do at least 36 hrs to be of use to me really.
expect to charge a smart phone every day
the desire can be charged over USB
so if you have PCs at work or wherever its easy to top up charge
same with spare batterys(suck on that iphone users
)
I never run out of charge during the day and charge my phone overnight
depend on your use, stuff like GPS is power hungry0 -

This is the exact reason I'm holding off on a mobile at the moment, the options seem to be get an iphone which lasts marginaly longer (and costs the price of a long family holiday abroad) or get one of the other top brands and charge twice daily- or just don't use it.
I see no point in paying more money then I want to for a phone I have to carry around a charger for and anticipate the nearest power point everywhere I go.
As a result I've been waiting for the battery issue to be sorted since the end of Feb and am actually getting used to not having a mobile! I hope they sort the issue soon or I may never have one again.0 -
My sons have iphone and Desire. Neither find having to recharge the battery daily to be a problem.0

Every day? Heck, i sometimes have to charge my HTC Desire HD twice a day (using a portable AA battery recharger)
I've got a Nokia E5 for work (also uses wifi/internet and all that stuff) - it goes 2 or 3 days without needing a charge
Big touchscreens eat battery0 -

Yeah, battery life on the Desire HD is a joke - I returned mine for my iPhone instead. Didn't see any point in having a phone that you couldn't use for fear of it running flat all the time. iPhone at least offers two good days' use.0 -
buymobilephones.net and affordablemobiles.co.cuk are doing the Desire S with 300 minutes, 300 texts and 500mb+ (says unlimited) internet for £20.42 a month with the phone free. The former gives 3 months free by redemption and the latter 4 months free. Quidco offer £30 cashback at buymobilephones and £60 at affordablemobiles.
It's on Tmobile which should be fine now they and Orange share network coverage.0 -
You should be able to find it alot cheaper thank that. I see it coming up for 300 minutes for £13.33 a month from Phonebox or £17.08 if you cant bebothered claiming the cashbacks. Phonebox shows up as 200 minutes, but in fact its 300 minutes, as thats on the Canary £20, and Orange offer 300 minutes ofr that plan
Thats with 300 minutes. It depends where and what you search really. I used http://www.mobilebeaters.com/comparemodel.php?manufac=HTC&model=DESIRE%20S:beer:HAPPY TO HELP :beer:0 -
No data though so not much use with a smart phone.0

true! you could select ones with data, which shows a contract for £17.19 (with cashback) or £19.49 (with no cashback)
Also the data allowance on mobiles is quite low, especially if its for downloads, so while its an advantage, its slow and limited IMHO.:beer:HAPPY TO HELP :beer:0
