Remember we don't even know the value of the item, or the cost of postage. The amount to refund could be just a few pence.

How do you know they didn't apologise?
They didn't apologise as that is the excate message i posted. The item is only low value but to send the item first class would have cost the seller a extra 10p. Now the seller still hasn't updated there listing so i don't think they really care.

Actually costs don't matter, all that matters is whether a seller offers one service but actually uses another.

If I offered 1st class and sent 2nd class to save money I would expect a disgruntled buyer, whether or not the postage was as charged or even included as free p and p.

personally I would let it go, it cost you nothing for postage,
Ahh actually it did cost the OP as postage was inclusive of the price. The seller offered a service the OP paid for which they didn't provide. It's as simple as that.

Absolutely, and of course I'm sure this is all very innocent, but a seller might be seen to be manipulating best match if apparently offering a better service than the others, but at a cheaper combined price.

I would be suspicious of a seller who makes a mistake in their listing which has the effect of making them look better than the other sellers, but then doesn't immediately rush to correct their mistake when it is pointed out to them.

OP, you have contacted them before leaving feedback and they appear not to be bothered. I personally think they still need a positive, but would hit the communication stars as they are obviously very poor in communicating what they are offering. It might even mean a dropped star in item description as well as item x with free 1st class postage is not the same as item x with free second class postage.

They way I operate is that if I make a mistake I pay for it, so in most cases I automatically offer some kind of compensation, even just tokenistic.
But as I hardly ever make mistakes, it's not a problem, but it keeps my mind focused...

Thought i would make a update as the seller's item ended and they have relisted the same item but they still haven't updated the postage. So i'm thinking of leaving a negative.

Had a similar situation recently. One week waiting for item (Buy it now, free postage) then a message from seller to apologise for the delay as she had been away and only just got back. I was annoyed when the item arrived a few days later and saw that she had used 2nd class postage.

    I left this neutral feedback

Seller apologised for delay in posting then sent 2nd class not Ist as listed.

and this was her follow up reply:

"Postage not charged to buyer, and listed as standard NOT 1st or 2nd".

See all details was definitely :

    Free P&P
    United Kingdom
Standard Delivery (Royal Mail 1st Class Standard)

    Sorry, but I don't think it's a petty complaint.

I had a response from the seller saying I will have to ammend my listings as the prices of first class post have gone up and the fees are also rediculous after postage and paypal and ebay fees its working out too much to send first class .

That's probably the stock response he sends to every buyer that's contacted him. I'd leave neg or neutral, low stars in comms, and in dispatch as you can't change the p&p.

Another update. I left the seller a negative this morning and when i got home from work i checked my emails and there is one for a seller is requesting that you revise the original Feedback you left, so i opened the email and the seller have said if you would like i can refund you for the item if you was not happy. please could you reconsider the feedback that you left as i would be very greatfull. so i have checked the seller listings and they still haven't adjusted the p+p so i was going to leave the neg. so as i got to leave feedback for the other item i bought i was wondering what would you do.

It's cheaper to buy off the customers who complain, and keep the scam going.
I'd leave it as a warning to others.
