Not 100% sure, and feel free to correct me if i'm wrong, but wouldn't you load the programme from the dvd onto your pc, convert it using the AMV utility then add to the player? Sounds simple, so i'm probably totally wrong!! lol

    Jules :)

I remember once I was viewing a DVD on my computer and thought I'd save it to my computer but when exploring the dvd in My Computer there was not a video file in one of the typical formats (avi, mpeg etc...) I'll look into it on the internet as there must be a simple way of doing it....I hope!

  • erm.. how do you update the firmware on this? (technophobe :( )

    1) Go to

    http://www.tatung.at/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=99&Itemid=47

    2) Download and install the utilities program first

    3) Then download the firmware file

    4) Connect the player to your PC

    5) Go to Start, Programs, MP3 Player Utilities 3.61, MP3 Player Upgrade Tool

    6) Find the firmware file you downloaded and update the player

Once the player has been updated go to My Computer, double click on the icon for your player and it should say that it's unformatted prompting you to format. Alternatively right-click on the icon and then go to Format and do it that way.

You will then be able to use the mp3 player

    Hope this helps

Great little gadget over at Micro Direct. 512mb mp3 player by tatung for £14.99 plus vat. This little thing also has built in li-ion rechargable, voice recorder, fm radio and a 1" colour OLED capable of displaying movies converted to .amv The movie converter etc comes with it but you need to update the firmware to the latest over at https://www.tatung.at. These are an ideal gift for nieces and nephews etc. I have just been and collected 2 of them.

The MP3 Player Utilities version 3.61 on the update page of the Tatung website contains a virus. Fortunately AVG was able to heal it.

  • Has anyone had this problem?

I can't seem to get the battery to charge - when I connect to PC via USB I can see the image which shows zzzzzzz between the two icons.

Battery status is showing empty, when I try and use it on its own I get an egg timer for a second and then it dies.

Help this was a Christmas present for my son - I have just read the full sale conditions

Now sick as a parrot as they say!

Your computer might have usb1.1 not usb2.0 ports, someone will have to confirm if that would cause this.

If its a desktop with a free PCI slot you could get a card to fit which will give you usb 2.0 ports.

or maybe get a usb travel charger and put up with slow transfer of songs to it?

  • Thanks for the post - sorry for being thick - but are you saying that if I put it into a USB 2.0 port it might make a difference?

I plugged the USB into the front of my PC which I think is a slower connection

I'll try one of the others, I just didn't realise it would make that difference?
