no income! desperate!

I am hoping someone will have some advice on what to do. My mum was receiving child benefit for me until a few days because she informed them I had moved out and left education so I applied for job seekers allowance which I will receive until 6th June as I will then go on income support due to being unfit for work as I am pregnant. BUT even though I'm being made to sign on, they wont give me any benefit until they have received a letter from child benefit informing them that my mum isn't getting any benefits for me; but when my mum rang the child benefit line up they said they aren't going to send a letter out until they have looked into in it which could take several weeks. So basically I have no choice but to freeze and starve in my house as I have no money for food or gas even though I'm almost 7 month pregnant and my mum cant support me as she has no benefits for me. Is there anything I can get which will allow me to receive money so that I can get food whilst this is sorted out? There has got to be something to help me as I don't believe I can be allowed to starve whilst heavily pregnant, this cant be good for my unborn baby! HELP! :(

Agree with this. You need to ring Job Centre Plus 0800 032 7952 but unfortunately this line closes at 4:30 so you will have to ring in the morning (they open at 8:30) and explain that you have no money for food and electric/gas.

Cancel your internet, sell the computer and use the spare cash for food?

Is the JSA you're getting till 7th june not enough to live on at the minute?

Crisis loan looks to be your best option.

If you're without food then the Salvation army do food packages

And how do you know the broadband and computer are hers. Gosh you don't even need a phone line, PC or broadband to access the net. She could be using her mobile phone or a PC at her mum's, the library, her friends....

OP the only advice I can give, as I'm not really up on young people's benefits, is to have a chat with CAB or Welfare Rights. As already mentioned you may be entitled to claim for a crisis loan Social Services can sometimes buy food parcels for people in your posistion too.

PS: MessedUp - Chelsea-oxo is not actually in receipt of JSA as they have suspended the claim until they get word about her mother giving up her claim from CB.

I would hot foot it round to social services as soon as possible, explain to them, they can often help sort these things out, especially as you are pregnant.Go there,do not phone them.

Your unborn child has a father ...that father/father's family could contribute some food, surely?

Lets forget about the Father just for a second.....

You are Young (as you say you have just left education)

    You are pregnant

    You are skint

You have no money for food and heating..........

And you dont appear to be getting help from your own MOTHER?????

My word! I have a Daughter not much younger than you and I tell you now...regardless of whether or not I was receiving benefits for her , if she needed my help with food/heating/bits and pieces then my help she would have!

I would go without food myself to make sure she had it! Has your Mum actually said that she cant help you out because she doesnt get benefits for you?

Now...as the other posters say. Cant your babies dad help you?
The loopy one has gone :j
