Rejecting a Brand New Car - unfit for purpose
Comments

I resisted calling you stupid because you can't drive with a blind spot but........
Like I said, all the cars I have bought since 1998 were bought on the same basis as test drives were not an option, so 2 out of three (Puma and Tigra) were a resounding success, but this car is absolutely appalling - and we didn't actually have any complaints about seat comfort - they are heated leather and the best bit of the interior.
You know nothing about my driving position, how long I've been driving (here's a clue - I'm retired) and the cars I've test driven and rejected and those I've test driven and bought so I still maintain that YOU'RE the stupid one. :cool:0 -
So if you've seen that you will have seen the comment from the other Tigra owner who gave it one less star than I did and "won't be driving it again", but I see you failed to mention that bit - doesn't suit your argument! If you had read the comment from the other Tigra owner, you'll see he says:
"Got the Wind to replace the wife's Tigra and wish we hadn't bothered. I have just driven on the Whitby to Bridlington coast road and trust me I won't be driving it again. The handling is appalling so much so that I took it back to the dealer to make sure that everything was bolted on the right way up.If you are not a Jedi forget about parallel parking because the rear vision is that bad you have to use the force."
No mention of wind turbulence, just that he hated the handling. Was the handling one of the other reasons you thought the car was unfit for purpose?
So OP, as you're trying to pick apart my argument (your words), how did you find the handling of the car?0 -
rotti wrote:But you CAN check vision and seat comfort and other physical attributes on a showroom model - which we did, but there was no demonstrator so a drive was not an option and has never been a problem before. Having had Pumas and Tigras I am used to "blind spots" but have yet to find a car without a door frame. To be honest I have to wonder how many of these posters on here are cyclists looking for an argument and don't even drive a car, let alone a convertible.I'm a cyclist who owned a Z3 for 10 years, and now have a Z4 (the coupe version, so no nasty wind turbulence to worry about).
Funny how the OP is quick to doubt other people, yet slow to acknowledge that they may actually know what it's like to drive a convertible.0 -

I actually didn't have a problem with the handling funnily enough. Steering very light and the car felt skittish at first but it is a lot lighter than the Tigra as it doesn't have the metal twintop. Could feel the turbo kick in and although we couldn't exceed 75mph you could feel that it wanted to go and there was plenty more there. Just a shame they put such a great little engine into a crappy shell.0 -

The car was reviewed by Jeremy Clarkson in the Sunday Times Ingear.
Not once did he mention the problems you allege.
Funnily enough the engine has been largely criticised despite the fact that you say it is "great".
It's only 99bhp...0 -

It depends what you want from an engine - I don't do all that "bhp" and "0-60" stuff - just know what I enjoy driving and it was definitely nippy - in both senses!0 -

Because (and I am surprised that you even have to ask this) a) the dealership has already dealt with the issue - admirably; b) this is an internet forum and it is inappropriate to post details of those you have a complaint with without any restriction; c) why would anyone call them to talk about your complaint anyway?
If you can't do the right thing, then I suspect that a board guide will need to remove your post.0 -
My problem is with Renault UK - I am also accumulating a lot of emails from them, as this is a very real problem - something some people seem unable to get to grips with and are more intent on personal attacks!0

I don't have ANY complaint with the dealership (if you read my posts properly you would see that). My problem is with Renault UK - I am also accumulating a lot of emails from them, as this is a very real problem0
