oooh hope you manage to find somewhere that values the books (in the true sense and money sense!)

Well today I did a jobs & careers fair at the college I attend. They wanted me and my girls to set up a stall to promote the college and also to show what you can achieve (and hopefully get us some leads)
I was told that I did a brilliant job of setting up the stand - i had a slideshow on the laptop of work weve done, leaflets, uniform on etc.
One of my girls was an absolute natural doing demos and getting people involved in rag rolling and sponging etc.
We had a few people take our leaflets as they need work doing and I got interviewed by BBC Manchester radio woooo
Ive also been asked if I could go to the local kids/teens club and do motivational talks & hands on demos to encourage the kids to do more with their time so all in all a great day :-)

That sounds fantastic Tinktay - lots of good things there. Glad things seem to be going so well - you've earned it.;)

Things quiet this end, not much money making this week I'm afraid. Have been really tied up trying to sort out final invoices and accounts for disability direct, nursing home bits and pieces, chasing up OH's meds. His drugs are unlicensed so have to come via the hospital pharmacy at Nottingham who in turn get them in chemical form from the John Radcliffe in Oxford and then make them up.

You can imagine how long that takes and how many phone calls and visits I have to make to Nottingham (30 odd mile round trip from here). We are into what is known as tertiary medicine for OH so our GP is powerless to intervene and try and speed things up for me. Good job I'm tenacious.:rotfl: I know all the various consultants' secretaries and pharmacy staff quite well now.

All well and good but it doesn't leave me time to earn any money.
I have however, bought a domain name and started writing copy for my website/blog so a little progress of sorts.

Hope you are all working hard and making lots of money.
  • goodness I know how hard it is just to get the correct amounts of insulin from doctors so i cant imagine what you deal with for unlicensed stuff! Its good that you are on top of it all. Just frustrating that you have to giddy up the professionals.

Well we have no work on next week yet so ive offered our services for voluntary work at the local hospice.May as well keep busy :-)

well i didnt get on the radio but no bother its practice for when I am :-)

im now thinking of running a class at a local resource centre just to get a feel for it and see how I get on which will give me good standing for my own workshop & also for funding if I ask for it

fab news on the domain name as well! at least you know you have it ready for when you can set it all up :-)

Avocado suites could just make a comeback.:rotfl::rotfl:

    How did you get on.

I think 60's & 70's properties can be a very good buy, less work than a Victorian/Edwardian wreck, usually parking available etc. Yes they can be a bit "boxy" and the insulation won't come up to today's standards, but on the plus side - decent sized rooms and a reasonable sized garden.

Busy, busy, busy here - nothing to bring any money in yet - just still sorting stuff out and putting my house back to rights.

It's now starting to look more like a normal house and less like a nursing home. Still loads to do though.

As I work through I'm building up a good pile for car boots, auctions and antique fairs - when the weather improves though - too cold for me:rotfl:.

    Hi LL!

It's annoying isnt it when you're busy busy but it's not turning you a profit!? But sounds like you're moving towards having your future lodgers room ready? :)

I'm also sorting through some boxes of old "stuff" to take to the car boot, hopefully this weekend weather permitting(I always say this and then never end up being bothered to set the alarm for 5am on a Sunday morning, lazy bones! :o)

The viewing went well thanks. Its a really nice 1930's semi, with as I say very 70's decor(maybe if i keep it as it is it will eventually come back into fashion?! Maybe not ;)) I've made an offer which has been provisionally accepted, the house is owned by an elderly gentleman and I think he's selling now to move in with a relative and is giving his children what would be their inheritance early, so he just needs to contact one of the other children to discuss and will finalise by Friday, fingers crossed! Darent let myself get too excited, have been looking for a while now and this wouldnt be the first one fall through!
Having done some research in the current climate, when fully renovated this property should make somewhere in the region of £35-40k profit. I shall have to wait and see!
    Hope everyones well :)
  • wowza lea that would be great, go everything crossed for you! And if you want a decorator we coulld do great rates for you :-)

    Aww thanks Tink!

Where are you based? Thanks for the favourable rates offer

But if I have to do it myself I promise to do it properly :)

I'm sure you have already but have you tried a "whole of market" independent mortgage broker? Mines been great with me, arranging agrrement in priciple etc at short notice for demanding Estate Agents etc! I could give you his number but dont know if were too far away?

Congrats on the job. I read somewhere when I was doing some research (about a leaflet drop I was planning to do for buying houses) that you get a much better response on the second drop in an area with the same leaflet, must be subliminally working your way into peoples brains! :)
  • im now on my third broker haha.the first two are now 'broken' the best thy could offer was 40% deposit at something crazy like 7% cant remember exact details but it was touch and go if we could get it anyway.

Well I got another good call today with the possibility of doing some marbling work which is amazing.Thats the kind of stuff I want to get into - high end work :-)

    Morning All,

    Hope everyones well and prospering!

Some bad news yesterday, the house I'd offered on has now been removed from the market as the owner has decided to give it away to a relative for tax purposes apparantly. Shame but onwards and upwards! You have to kiss a lot of frogs I think!

Have seen another project that I will be enquiring about on Monday...keep plodding on it will all come together in the end!
