WOW! Never more than today have i wished for financal freedom and to get out of the rat race....and i wasnt even working!!! Not so much out the rat race as i love my job. Just the debt i have and knowing i HAVE to work the next 5-6 months(hopefully no longer!!!) to pay off these debts!! They have increased my income a little with the stuff i bought taking on the loan but just dont like the burden of it, fell like working all day everyday just taking the evenings off to recover to maximise income to get these paid off asap! Never ever thought id be one to fall £13,500 odd into debt...and im only 20! Should be enjoying my large surplus income saving to move out, buying a ridiculous car and going out every weekend at my age not using every penny to service the fat bankers bonuses!!
Feeling very crappy tonight, meant to be going out but dont feel like spending with all this debt hanging around me, i cant wait to be rid of it once and for on then onto my next challenge...financal freedom asap!!!Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

Hang in there Rictus - don't give up - you'll get there.
As you say you are only 20 and you've had your wake up call already. You've got time on your side. Your age is definitely a plus for you, it's going to be much harder for me (I'm three times your age). Six months or so is nothing and then you'll be out the other side and can start making profits and really start storming ahead.
Good idea to have a little r&r now and then Tinktay and it's a good thing to stay on top of paperwork etc.
Anyway today was the start of Operation Get Organised.
After loads of nagging phone calls I finally got SS to remove all OH's equipment and have now turned his bedroom back into an office. My sons were both here for the day so I made use of a bit of "slave labour", just kept them going with bacon butties, mince pies and endless brews of tea, whilst they humped furniture around.
The next week or so will be spent taking my OH for hospital treatments on three consecutive days so won't have much time but I hope to be able to make a start on organising my office and sorting out a mountain of old paperwork.
Next weekend I'll be off on a little jolly to London and then it's down to serious business the week after.
Going to make a start by painting and decorating my house from top to bottom, sorting out clutter and bric-a-brac as I tackle each room, ready to start my bric-a-brac/antiques trading. There is a lot of thinning out to be done, plus loads of stock in the garage, loft, wardrobes and cupboards.
I'm really pleased this month - have made £705 so far just by selling a few items, cashing in some vouchers, saving gifted money etc. I've also managed to slash the housekeeping budget. Considering I've not really concentrated on my money making very much I'm quite chuffed with the result.
Unfortunately I've also had some pretty hefty outgoings, plumber's bill, setting up broadband for OH in the nursing home, getting him a new TV. I've also bought a few pieces of much needed furniture, although I might sell a couple of pieces on when they have been up cycled.
Next month will see family members start to pay back their loans and I should have time to start some dealing. Going to try for £1000 for February;).
I'm really enjoying the challenge. Over the next few months I want to build up some "seed capital" to take things to the next level.
Happy Money Making0 -
Hi Lessonlearned,
Have just been reading your last post. I'm sure you've already thought of this....but would it be a possibility for you to take advantage of the "Rent a Room! scheme to get some tax free income If you have a spare room? I would love to do this but OH does not approve (At least no yet anyway, I still have a way to go in converting him to being an MSE!! Time and patience eh?!)
Was just a passing thought0 -
Hi Lea
Yes I'm thinking of doing this - need to decorate first though - the place is a disgrace.
There's chunks of plaster missing from walls, door architraves all splintered and damaged, wooden floors all scratched and gouged. All the damage was caused by Oh's wheelchair and disability equipment.
Hopefully it won't take too long once I get stuck in. We have had a lodger in the past - she was supposed to stay for a month and ended up staying for over a year. I obviously made her too comfortable.:rotfl::rotfl:
Actually it worked very well and we became goods friends, so I'm quite prepared to have another go.
Good luck with converting your OH to MSE. Perhaps if you can treat the both of you to something nice with the money you save it might help bring him on board.
I find the carrot is usually better than the stick at getting loved ones to comply.:rotfl:0 -

Morning All,
Well hopefully today I'm off to have a look at a potential investment opportunity. As you know property is my first love(and it will be my last!!Cheesy I know!!) and I have found one which is in a very good part of my city but has been badly neglected, mostly cosmetic work to do on it but having done my research even in the current climate there is approximately a 35-40k profit to made. This area is always in high demand and properties are still selling well, however most people buying here do expect the best and have so far not been interested in this house of horrors!
Only snag being I am going to have to find 5k extra as a top up for my deposit, but I'm thinking of some creative solutions
Hopefully it hasnt already been snapped up and I will be off to view today
Hope everyone is well0 -
Hi guys,
Have been a little MIA as haven't been getting very far but am feeling much more motivated this year. I think the problem I tend to have is I'm on a low wage and have very little left after the bills come out - so at the moment am concentrating on getting extra cash in and then am putting that back into other thingsDoes anyone remember the name of the book that looked at multiple income streams? Have quite a few ideas for things that am in the process of getting set up so feeling quite positive again
Everyone seems to be doing really well - and Lea good luck with the property.0 -
