Hi Money Saving Expert,
New to the forum here, but have followed and read for many years.
I'm at a stage in my life where I want to be more focused and money-driven in 2015.
A bit about me, I'm 27, and living (with a mortgage) in the Leicestershire , East Midlands. Getting married in October 2015, so this is a big year!
I have a full-time job as a Quality, Safety & Environmental Manager dealing with ISO/TS standards. I will not be including any income earned by my full-time salary in this challenge. But, I will record salary income saved per month.
To give myself an extra boost I have 2 businesses which I started in 2013, meaning these take time for me after work, but I feel I could always try new things. I will be including the earnings made into savings and any added extras.
I look forward to keeping here updated for everyone to read how my progress goes throughout 2015 and beyond.
Really am looking forwards to reading more from everyone's posts.
# UPDATE #
I have started this year by giving myself a £2015 target in 2015 to start the path to the 1 million goal. I get the feeling I will be spending it as soon as I have saved it, for the wedding
Income Update #1
(Business 1) giving me a nice early £195 income to January so far...
Income Update #2
Had a meeting with our Mortgage Advisor; managed to reduce out mortgage by £75 a month, will help very nicely!
Also, had (Business 1) invoice paid of £56.50 going straight in to the pot.
Happy New Year

Good morning all
Just stopping by to say hello and welcome to Charlie, sounds like you've got off to a good start.
Kay - sorry to hear that you are feeling a bit despondent, just keep plugging away and keep an eye open for new opportunities. Tbh I have more or less given up with e-bay. I just found it too time consuming for very little reward. I now just filter my bits and bobs through my lady who sells for me and pay her a commission. I really don't make much at all but I just can't face the hassle of doing it myself.
Speaking of new opportunities. I have three properties to look at this weekend. Property 2 is now almost complete - so time to,start planning the next one.
I know it's not much but I joined the £10 a day challenge, but setting mine at £5 to earn a bit extra, over and above my normal passive income. I've Reached my target already.
Just goes to show what you can do when you put your mind to it.
Am housebound today awaiting a furniture delivery so shall crack on with the decluttering and sorting through stuff.
Hope you are all well and busy.0 -
Happy New Year everyone, hope it was good. Back on here now to destroy my debts and save some money at the same time!! So im in for the £12k in 2015, make an extra £10 a day, Frugal living and many more. Small steps now will make a big difference come the end of 2015. Plan is to actually keep £6k of the £12k saved as savings, put the other half to debts. That will bring debts down £18,000 in 2015 with £6,000 saved alongside it. ambitious but not unrealistic. Hardwork will get me there, lets do this!!!:eek:Living frugally at 24

I'm so jealous LL, my life long dream is to get into properties but without the money it's just something in the pipeline....
Do you think it's weird for a business not to have a phone number? Maybe I have some anxiety issues as I just can't pick up the phone...it's really rare anyone actually calls me as I am based online but I have most likey missed one business because of this and someone has just called me and left a message so I text them an email and told them I'm not the person you wish to speak to (the number is used for sending information, so that could make sense that I was just the middle 'woman')
Why can't I just pick up the phone....why am I so bloody lazy!! (in general, not related lol)
Still can't get out of this rut it's crazy, I think because I have been so busy and now it's just 'quiet' I am struggling to get on with the small tasks that aren't essential for day to day but DO need to be done.
Welcome Charlie hope you stick around we do get so many people popping in and never popping back...hint hint lurkersPeople don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
Good morning fellow millionaires to be
Agree with Kay it's very quiet on here. Hope that is a sign you are all busy striving and that you're not all skiving. We'll have no slackers here:rotfl::rotfl:
Kay - not sure I read your post properly but it doesn't sound like you are being lazy but more that you suffer from some kind of phone phobia. You absolutely need to overcome this.
Now I understand that cold calling is extremely difficult. I've had to do it in the past and I've hated it, I used to have to really psyche myself up to do it.
However in your case then you weren't cold calling, you would have been responding to an enquiry.
I'm going to give you a sharp slap on the wrists here because you've missed an opportunity - but of course you realise that so I won't labour the point.
However you've also done something worse - you've let a potential customer down and disappointed them. You've just fobbed them off with an email. Even if you don't have or do what they wanted you should have at least phoned them to discuss, explain etc
When you are In business letting people down is just about one of the worst Cardinal sins. You are missing out on goodness knows what business opportunity (you'll never know now - it could have been a one off small order from a private individual or it could have been an enquiry from a large company .........). Not only that, you also risk damaging your business reputation and that is one thing you must avoid.

Ok - so what have I been up to.
I've viewed 3 houses - none of which I will pursue. They were nice enough but didn't excite me.
I've been doing some serious tidying up following the KonMAriemethod, see the old syle board for the thread. It's all about a JApanese lady who has come up with a fabulous method of sorting stuff and tidying up - all very therapeutic and very efficient.
I've also really embraced the Paleo way of eating and Im starting to feel so much better. I have a wheat intolerance , however in the past my attempts to give up grains have been a bit half hearted. this time I have done it properly and the im starting to feel the health benefits. even my fibro Myalgia is much improved..
I've also grabbed my finances by the scruff of the neck and have got serious about saving more of my current passive income and trying to earn extra. I set myself a target of £150 extra in January and have made over £200 so far so feeling quite chuffed.
On Thursday I'm taking my dad over to his house to make a start on sorting it out. I'm really not looking forward to it, I think he's going to find it difficult to part with stuff but it is at his request so perhaps he's ready now.
Right time to get up and start the day. Got to drag myself into town today to open an account with Santander, tried to do it all online but no, I have to go into the branch with ID.
Why everything has to be so complicated these days - all I want is better interest on my money not a loan. I know it's all to do with money laundering but it's just so tedious and time consuming. I can understand why so many people can't face the hassle of changing banks or moving money around.
Oh a little rant before I go. Yesterday I waited in for a delivery.
I ordered a set of mirrored chest of drawers on 29th December, and was promised a delivery on 2nd January, never arrived. Because the person who processed the order, didn't bother to arrange delivery, just took my money and the forgot all about it.
Chased them up and they promised yesterday. It duly arrived, opened the box to find it smashed to pieces - some damned fool had packed it upside down in the box so the mirrored top had no protective packaging with the inevitable result.
Now I have to wait another 2 weeks and try again. The item is in stock.......
Some companies deserve to fail.......
My goodness, I sound like a right old Victor Meldrew this morning......0 -
Happy New year all
I'm still here, I always read, Just not posting.
Kay I have to agree with Ll, that's potential business lost there, it's something you are going to have to conquer.

Hello fellow millionaire's to be :j
Long time reader on this thread but first post.
Reading everyone's goals is such an ambition. LessonLearned I have learnt a lot from your posts already. Keep up the great attitude towards money
My Aim
Im 21 at the moment. I have about £15,000 debt through loans and more loans. My OH has taken out a mortgage of £119000 which il be contributing to and paying my fair share.
By the time I'm 24 all my debt will be clear and my OH and I will have paid off 3 years on the Mortgage. At this point we will only have 18 years left (21 year mortgage)
By the time I'm 27, I wish to have overpaid the mortgage by how much my partner put into the house via her deposit - £13,000. So by this point the mortgage will have been paid for 6 years and then a nice hefty £13,000 will have been overpaid too. This should easily bring the mortgage total to well under £85,000 - £90,000.
By the time I'm 30, il probably need a holiday and a new car so will have a nice year and who knows, maybe marriage?
By age 35 - MORTGAGE FREE:D:D:D:D
By 40, buy a flat and start being a landlord. Get something which will pay for itself and will be easy to maintain.
I can't make a plan for my 50's as there will most likely be flying robots by then.. :rotfl:
Basically my goal is to get into property once I get myself on the straight and narrow.
I don't know about a million but il give it a fair shot
MrCFSaving for that dream holiday0 -
Just dropping by to say hello and welcome to MrCrimeFiction. Sounds like you are off to a cracking start and only 21;)
I wish I hd hD your good sense at 21 - I wouldbelnw seriously wealthy woman now.:rotfl: Never mind you cant put the clocks back and ive no real regrets.
I don't think I would change my life, OH and I had a ball and I'm still young enough and fit enough to both have a good time and squirrel a bit away.
I'm doing far better with my make £5 a day challenge Than I imagined I would. I shall definitely sign up again next month. Writing down goals and making a committment really does help focus the mind.
Made a start on emptying mum and dads cottage this week. Just going tod0
