Good Morning Fellow Millionaires in Waiting

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas. It was a little strange for me with it being the first Christmas since my husband died, but it was ok. Not nearly as bad as I had feared. I spent the day quietly with my lovely boys and yesterday spent time with my parents and then my sister and her family.

Now it's time to make a start on the next phase of my game plan.....cue evil cackle.

I've done a financial review and I have £350 surplus each month from my passive income to reinvest and speculate with.

I would like to save at least £500 a month so I shall be looking at ways and means.

I could easily shave £50 a month off my expenses so finding an extra £100 each month shouldn't prove too difficult. I have plenty of stuff to sell.

So that's my first challenge set in stone - save £500 per month.

I have also set myself a couple of personal goals, the most urgent of which is to get fit and healthy again. I've already made a start by catching up with some much needed sleep and rest. From now on its healthy eating and exercise, enough rest, extra vitamins and supplements.

I also intend to start socialising a bit more, maybe a few trips and a nice holiday. I've been a bit of a recluse since OH died, but I feel ready now.

2014 was a difficult year but I'm looking forward to 2015 and some fresh challenges.

Time to start a new life as a "Merry Widow" - a bit of a scary prospect but it is time..

With your positive attitude and resourcefulness LL I'm sure 2015 will be a great year for you :T:T:T.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • All the best LL, with what you have been through in 2014 I think you deserve a great 2015.

LL, if its about deserving, then you'll actually reach your millionairedom by the end of January :) And be extremely healthy too (I need to take care of that more, obviously).

And can I just say that saving £350 a month *already* from passive income is blinking fantastic :j
2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • heres hoping you all had a nice relaxing Christmas.

2015 should be a very good year.
managed to secure a job with a small pay rise starting the next working day after the redundancy kicks in on the current one. Meaning i can relax in January and not spend it rushing around arranging and attending interviews! Quite pleased with the position. A fresh challenge is just what i needed..

the redundancy money is mostly ear marked for investment and so some final research will be done on where to put it. Most likely some sort of tracker fund, some high interest cash accounts and a small amount in something with a slightly higher risk ( but better chance of higher return) ... Some will pay down the mortgage and going forward there will be monthly investments to both investments and pensions.

2014 saw my net worth increase by approx 21% although mostly in locked away assets. This years plan is to become more liquid so not to miss on any opportunities that may arise.

wishing you all a prosperous new year
  • Well Done Broken Biscuits on the job, that's a great start!
  • great news about the job Biscuits, especially as you don't have to break into the redundancy money.

Well done on the increase in net worth..

Yes I think that with a fair wind then 2015 looks to be pretty good.:D

I'm certainly looking forward to making good progress next year.

    Onwards and upwards.;)

    If I don't post again........

    Happy New Year Everyone.

I lurk here every day as I enjoy reading the goals, challenges and successes that regular contributors share. I can imagine having a cup of tea and some cake with many of you while sharing our goals and discussing paths to our successes - I guess this thread is like a virtual coffee morning to me.

When I joined this thread, I thought that I would be more active...then a surprise happy yet difficult pregnancy at age 44 came along; our healthy son was born nearly four weeks ago.

At some stage in 2015 I will become more active, but in the mean time, I wish you all a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!!

    Very best wishes

    Hi guys,

Got a bit annoyed last night, wrote out a post for here twice and lost it both times...

Anyways, to start over. What has happened over the past two months has been a dream...but has also been a complete nightmare. I feel like my home life has suffered and the children have not ha the attention they deserve..I know it's mainly down to the Xmas rush but I just think as it is, the business isn't making enough money per the time put in.

I've decided to get rid of Product 1...this has been an emotionally hard decision for me as this was the one that started it all...but P2 has sold so well that P1 has not only took a back seat but just isn't selling as well as it should. It's weird, but I've took down 105 listings because of this and I only have 60 left....but those 105 listings only made up about 5-10% of my sales (if that) and are time consuming and not really fitting in now with what my business does....P2 P3 P4 are all kind of intertwined.

Step 2, I'm raising my prices. I'm no longer going to be the cheapest but I will try and develop my designs to do something a bit different ..so I am hoping in time, I will rebuild my business back up but it will be better and be making more money then before...33% more infact per sale, so hopefully if I start getting busy I can take on a 2nd pair of hands instead of struggling like I did this year.

Taking these two steps, more for step 2 really..I will be taking a hit on my sales...but if I can make more money on my time...and have more time spare..I think that is more important right now, for my kids sake more then anything. My eldest will start half days nursery in Sept, but my youngest won't be in half days for 2 and half years...so that's actually 3.5 years before their both in full time education.

It's a long time...but I don't want to compromise on their upbringing for extra cash...at end day we have everything we need a home, a car and food on the table....my dreams of being a millionaire will always be their and I will keep fighting for it...but not like this.

Next I've decided to carry on with my AAT level 3, I don't have any A levels so I figured if I decide not to carry on into a career in Accounting it should open doors for me anyway as it will be eq to 2 A Levels

Congras guys on the new job and little one :-) I love how you see this as a coffee morning...hot chocolate for me :D

Right...Hope you guys have a good New Year as I have a lot to do and probably won't be back posting until after, I look forward to hearing your new years resolutions I know mine this year will be a long one..I really need to make some changes in my life an I want to take action rather then just falling into the same old habits and letting the days intertwine with each other ... I want to start choosing my actions instead of just doing things without thinking an repeating the same daily motions and letting the time slip away...lets take some control of our lives.

Looking forward to 2015....hell pass me the champagne.
