  • thanks LL. i know what you mean about the next financial plunge being a bit scary. But im sure like me you are fully read up on the subject and aware of the risks and best fit strategy for your needs. Im ready to explode with the amount of research ive done on investing in funds etc in the last few months.

that number of just shy of 100k isn't the cash im holding. Its mostly in pensions and property.
you can get over 10k in tsb and nationwide earning 5%. A couple of those accounts need to be joint though and you have to be willing to play the transfer game each month.

BB, thats great! I did save a lot in my 20s and 30s, but there's so much more I could've done.

Right now ... its all in the planning.

  • cheers karma.
ive spent a lot of time planning lately too. Or maybe as its at best 20 years off, you could probably call it day dreaming.

im sure life will get in the way of the best made plans!

if the plan works, I'll have the option to retire in my 50's. If i only get near my targets, well, at worst I'll just be more comfortable than if i had taken little or no action.

    Hi Guys,

I've had the most amazing idea for an app!!! Seriously...this is something I can't ignore! The best part is I know someone did something on a similar level and it worked so well....

I can't just leave this in the back of my head...off to find out how I can get an app idea into an app!!!! ...Wish me luck :D:D:D:D

Edit: I've never been this excited about an idea in my whole life JUMPING AROUND....!!! My little research showed me I'm going to have to build this thing by myself but I'll do it even if it takes me a year. This needs to be done.

  • Hi everyone! A belated Happy New Year to you all! :)

KC; I hope you're feeling better as I post this.

Sorry I haven't been around much in Jan; I have been checking in, but I've been so busy with several projects I have running that I've not had time to stop and think! Taken the day off today though for a bit of recuperation, so whooo! :D

Great to see the positivity holding strong in the thread, and great to hear that progress is being made! LL, your posts are quickly becoming mantra's for me to live by; your quote that our journey is all about delayed gratification really rung true! For the first time, I've managed to hit savings targets, and so finished 2014 feeling a lot better than previous years, and though this month is looking tight toward the end, I'm hoping I will be able to hit this month's target too!

This would put me in uncharted territory as far as my savings are concerned, so a massive thank you to every single poster on here who's managed to keep my focus in the right place the past few months; I may not have posted, but rest assured your fantastic advice and the supporting atmosphere of the thread has been read and really made a difference! So thank you all!
  • Hello. I hope everyone has enjoyed there weekend.

I've done a few things this week which will hopefully make me a millionaire a bit quicker.

I've set up a small standing order to overpay my smaller (highest interest) loan every month so hopefully this should take the payments down by a good few towards the end of it finishing. By xmas I think my overpayments will be about the same amount as 3 monthly payments so I'm happy with that :D

My second task was signing upto the '£1000 emergency fund' thread on here. This ties in perfectly with my savings plan as I already have that amount in savings but I want to double it. I know I have debts but it's a bit of security as I'm never taking out any more loans or credit cards :rotfl:
I've set up a standing order to pay in £25 a month into the fund. Any overtime or TopCashBack payments will also go in there to build it up.

I'm already saving for Xmas next year through the 'Saving for Xmas 2015! A pound a day" thread. I already have £85 saved in my jar so that's going well. It all counts at the end of the day.

This week I cancelled netflix and the gym, saving me £25 a month.

There is such great advice on here. I specifically want to thank LeasonLearned! Your posts are amazing and really make me look at my situation from a different angle. Thank you ;)

    Let's keep it up.
