I'm a bit clueless to what the difference is here but I know mine was Prestashop based and it *looks* simple enough to get started with...download the files and upload them to your site.
I had problems because I was hosted with 123 reg and it wouldn't install so he did it a backwards way, but maybe worth looking into?People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -

Kayalana prestashop is an open source shopping cart and one of the two I am considering so you seem to be going down the right lines well done

I've had a bit of a wake up call, a very kindly one, this evening. Been chatting with a woman my age on another forum, about writing an article that she's commented on for me ... she asked how it was going, naturally enough. Hmm. It isn't, because I downed tools to try to focus on the cat website
I'm terrible at prioritising big projects, absolutely terrible. The cat website, and the article, both have the capacity to be money makers eventually, in their different ways. I'm going to have to stop faffing about and produce something saleable for each. 18th September today. Right. Produce something saleable for each by the middle of October, Friday 17th October.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Ah awesome. I am so glad I have my web designer to help with questions so far but I am so impressed with it...does everything I need/want it to. (including things I wouldn't of know I'd wanted it to do if that makes sense lol!)
I will try and think of things for you KC I'm here if you just need a chat about your next move, perhaps it might be more beneficial for you to start on eBay selling your products under the name of your cat website (i.e your eBay name would be exactly the same as the website without the www / co.uk etc) rather then selling things on your website and trying to drive traffic to it.
As an eBay buyer, I tend to look to see if people have websites listing things a bit cheaper so you might find that doing it that way also drives traffic to your website (esp if you add something basically saying you have a website without saying it because that's against eBay rules you know)
It must be hard to know what to spend time on where, I am in that boat atm as with my new machine I want to spend time developing new products and I have a list to get through but I also know that I can push my old products... I am thinking that with product 1 doing so bad that if I redesigned some of the old ones (as I have more experience with photoshop now) I could get more sales and get it moving again before xmas....Ack
I noticed sales lacking in a certain area of Product 2, and sure enough someone is selling them cheaper ~ poorer designed but they have a huge listing which you can choose the product and colour which I do not...so for now I have reduced my prices over the board..it's a bold move as I have basically halved my profit on an item that was selling well, but I am hoping again to push more sales and then slowly creep the price up + I will get a listing together soon as they have done with multiple choices and colours and since my art work is better *fingers crossed* I will get my sales back in this area (when I say area P2 is still doing well but this is a 'theme' of it but I still changed prices for all P2 to see how sales get on)
I really do wonder if I make sense sometimes..................................People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
Morning Kaya! I get exactly where you're coming from with the products, absolutely. Thanks for commenting on my post - as usual, you're full of really good ideas - I was wondering about selling on ebay, but of course in the new "cat website" name, I wouldn't have any good f/b, because it would be completely new ... I'll have a look at how sellers describe themselves, maybe I can figure something out about that, as you say. Ebay is so huge, you just can't ignore it, like f/b. At first tho, it comes down to getting a few products together!
And for the writing ... one thing I was doing yesterday, which takes a ridiculous amount of time but is nevertheless crucial to a research job, is tidying up my bookmarks that I'm using to work on the writing. Takes forever! I did it for the cats too - who sells stuff, what do I write about, where are my cat pictures on the computer, all that sort of thing. Takes forever, as I say, but does mean I can work more efficiently. I want to keep that up to date now.
The house is getting a bit tidier, and a bit cleaner, and looking at my diary for next week, I can see how I can plot things out.
Hope everyone's doing good.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hi KC
As you know you can't advertise your web page directly on ebay but I think you can include it in your about me page and strongly shove customers towards that and of course if your business logo happened to include your website address that would helpAlso of course when you sell on ebay you can include your website details then in the parcel with perhaps a little discount if they buy from the site next time as you won't have to pay ebay fees.
My bookmarks and documents/pictures files are in a mess I need to get them sorted too

- if you want something small but functional I can confirm that Puntos can get a dishwasher in the boot in case of domestic emergencies
. Very large opening which I'm sure would be helpful.

My suggestion would be to go for WooCommerce which is an extension of the WordPress platform. Head over to ThemeForest and pick up a premium theme for £30-£40.
Magento is another great choice but not really ideal for a beginner.0
