Tink I'm so sorry to see you're going through such a hard time. Splitting up with someone is never easy, and you're bringing up kids and running a business too. I'm also a single parent, there's a lot of us around so you're not alone :) . Does your ex pay maintenance? That would give you a bit of income.

I'm sure you'll be back on your feet in no time, and we're all behind you.

So sorry about your situation Tink, as Churchill said when you're going through Hell, keep going; you will come out the other side and you will probably come out stronger. We are all behind you; after all if you hadn't started this, none of us would be on this journey either!

Tink, my word, you're doing well, in spite of what your ex has just thrown at you. I'm full of admiration for you starting to pay off that loan! And for working out a way to have your 30th. I hope thats a really good day for you xxx and I look forward to that millionaire party :)

    Good morning everyone.

Tink - good to see you getting back on track.

Hope your 30th is fab-u-lous - some great "blue sky thinking" there on how to fund it;)

As Trog says - just keep going - but we know you will. We're standing on the sidelines cheering you on………so you go girl!!!

Well what a week - mum now in, dad now in - just got to sort out some bits and pieces. Got the benefits people going to see dad on Wednesday, then I'm dragging him off to a meeting for new residents. He's moaning like hell of course but I've told him he needs to start meeting people and getting a social life.

Need to clear their house but that can wait a week or two. I've moved out anything that's valuable just in case. I found mum's good jewellery and dollops of cash dotted about all over the place.

I'm dead tired after all that so a few days rest and then it's back to work for me.

Making steady progress on the flipper, work starts on the kitchen on next week. Will get everything ordered this week so everything is on site in time.

My lady "wot sells for me" didn't have any success with the illustrated children's books. They are actually quite collectable but unfortunately no takers so they've gone to the charity shop - so no money from them. Pity I could do with a cash injection. :rotfl:

Tink - I reckon you'll meet that magic £1m before I do so looks like you will be hosting the party, :D

    Looking forward to it.

Great news on your mum and dad, I bet that's taken a big weight off your mind, even if there is still a long way to go.
I did get declined for the mortgage I applied for, as expected BUT at least I tried and know that I was a step closer than before.
My team are brilliant, my sales lady is getting us through some important doors and we are mixing with the right people. We are still very busy and our prices are now able to rise to the same as other decorators due to us now having a fab team, great standards and best of all the knowledge and reputation required.
We have a new cleaning team so are having to rebuild the cleaning side as lots of customers went with my SISTER when we mutually decided she needed to leave.bit cheeky BUT cest la vie.
I'll be honest, I'm still. In the wanting to hide phase and it's still very painful that someone I live so much has changed beyond recognition but as you all say, I'll come out tougher.
I know it's the least of my worries but I'm gutted that I've had to leave my furniture, and to be honest my whole lifestyle as when we moved house we did it for the lifestyle, better area, open space, shopping at local fruit and veg shops, lots of outdoor time. I feel a bit like a caged animal at the moment as I'm sure the kids do too as we haven't got the indoor or outdoor space we had

Tink, of course you do, give yourself time, something that you have spent a long time creating and nurturing - of course you can't just turn your back on it all without a thought. And of course you will miss the lifestyle you chose and worked for, that was something important to you and still is. It's very hard that you will have to start again with those aspects, but it can be done. Once things are back on an even keel you will be able to create your own place again and this time, no one will take it from you.

Tink - sorry to hear that your mortgage app was declined, never mind just watch the cash flow and build your business - you'll soon be able to press forward with your BTL plans.

Re losing your home and furniture - of course you feel the loss but you can rebuild. You have your children and your family, that's what really matters. You have youth and good health on your side.

Are you managing to get a little time for yourself in all this. I know you were into kick boxing was it. Try and find something just for you now and again, especially something like exercise or sport to get those feel good endorphins kicking in.

I now go to Pilates regularly - it's really starting to help me. My back is so much better now and I've met some lovely ladies there. One of them is a bit of a property developer although she concentrates on BTL's so we've got a lot in common.

I also go to a book club, meet with a friends for lunch or a coffee now and then, cinema or shopping trips etc. Now that the dust has settled with mum and dad, and the renos are going well I'm going to look at doing a couple of courses next.

    Onwards and upwards …….

Hi guys. I'm just gonna post quickly then go back and read all that I've missed. Quick update from me. About 2 and a half weeks ago I was taking into hospital. Turns out I have had a small stroke and something called cortical spreading depression. All due from stress. Not quite what you want to hear at 26. I lost the ability to speak and the use of my left arm but I am recovering quickly :) . My other half (my lovely wife) took charge and we are now living with her mother in Kent. My family has been a great help and we are slowly building our lives back. Due to my illness I couldn't start the high-paying new job I had lined up and I'm really far behind with all my other plans, but it's like she said my health is more important. I am currently signed up for some internet work as my speech is not so great. I am going to have to sign on for a bit until I get things together.
I just hope I serve as a little bit of a warning, my lifestyle is not attributive to a stroke and the only striking factor when they did other tests was my blood pressure which was ridiculously high, so high in fact that it initially couldn't be measured by the paramedic. Whatever is going on in your lives please try not to stress to much, or it can really do you in! I've promised to not bottle things up that I'm worrying about and to talk things through. Hope everyone is well, I'm now going to go spend the day with a cuppa and this thread. xxx

How awful EQ, here's to a speedy recovery.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
