Great idea and an awesome target! Someone above mentioned "Think & grow Rich" - this is a great inspirational book to read I also highly recommend it!

I too have been toying with a similar idea as it's the start to a new year and I need a new challenge!

Oh my what a weekend...well I was forced off my bum because I had some kind of buying selling craze - I nearly made my £100 aim for the month in the past 3 days alone! (Exceeded it over all though :-) )

Does mean I never got chance to get those listings up though had a busy weekend in general so haven't been in house much. Luckily my OH is understanding and let me get on with the big orders Sunday evening. :| & today my little man has just cried all day long!! They both finally fell asleep at half 4 so I've been working from then onwards to catch up on today then little man started to stir...so rocking him with my foot rather keep him asleep atm after today!!!

I'm nearly finished my W.Hill book 'Think like a tycoon' - Its amazing - but its for people who are in the property market & I don't have the cash right now for someone like you LL it will be the best £20 you ever spent...he makes you think in new ways and its all based around property. (I don't agree with one thing he said though and that was that we need to find partners who are rich...if only it was that easy though!!! lol ...and he just doesn't seem to agree with kids in general they will spend all your money for you..)

If I had the money... but I will one day so i will be getting it back of the shelf :-)

I thought about renting but never looked into it - we are both under 25 so I assume it would be more expensive for us anyway. (Cars)

Sorry about the cottage but at least you walked away - some people its love at first sight and they will ignore the warning signs.

KC - I MUST GET AMAZON ACCOUNT THIS WEEK. xD

...and eldest has just woke *sigh* OH will be home any minute at least..

Droopsnout - thanks for the milage info.

Kaylana - thanks for the heads up on the property book - will look out for that one. I can add it to my collection;) I'm always keen to learn new stuff.

Karmacat - good news from France for you.

Hello - Alex - good luck!!!

Have been stripping wallpaper today - what a long slow tedious job. Never mind each strip removed brings me one step closer to my goals…..Won't manage to get any done again for a couple of days due to OH and my dad's hospital appts. . Still at least my acing muscles will get a rest. :rotfl:

Night all - I'm done for.

Awaiting my laptop refund through paypal - I think I *may* have !!!!ed him off. Whoopsie. They received it back and still hadn't processed my refund 24hours later..so I sent them a message which I had no reply to.

I thought this was the time to leave feedback, and yes it was a bright red dot.

Soon after I received a reply(ironicly) saying we are checking it now you will get your refund shortly, so I mentioned as they are a business they are inclined to pay return postage fees...and it ended up with them saying my refund will be processed in '14 days' and me saying I will be sending them a letter before action about my postage costs...

O well, I might send them the letter but I won't go to court. I was tempted but whats the point...end day he's always going to be an idiot so at least I can walk away with my money back and with hopefully a warning that other ebayers will take note of (the feedback)

Move on again...money shall be along in a week or so when paypal do their silly review..

Anyway, had a baby sitter today(Mum) so got alot done, plus hardly any sales today so has allowed time for me to get on with other stuff I needed to do. I had alot of fun yesterday as I was asked to do something personalized for a wedding, I guess I'm a little sad but I got a kick out of knowing it was for someones big day.

In the process of doing what I call the 'Master sheet' where I am going to list every potential product, profit margin, where to source it, and whether I need to go the post office for it...then instead of going onto product 3 I might change it to something else...as thats a post office item and the machine I want is abit dangerous really around the kids. (Still want to do it but if I can find another product with a higher profit margin I'll put it off)

Also - not sure what you guys think of this - I've made a new CV....this CV isn't for this year...its for 2015. So basically I shall be setting myself educational targets and achievements which will be on my CV for next year...so I best get cracking on making it a real one. :-)

I'm a longstanding lurker who's wondering if anyone has any other book suggestions.

I've read quite a few over the years, one of the first being Rich Dad, Poor Dad which I read over 20 years ago.

I occasionally dip into The Millionaire Next Door as a little pick-me-up.

I looked for the book "Think Like a Tycoon" on Amazon, where I was directed to the Authors/publisher's site who advised that the book is now completely out of date and they do not advise using the book for financial guidance. It sounds like it could be quite inspirational... I might borrow it from the library at some stage.

I read one of Suzy Ormans' books - I didn't find it to be too inspirational but horses for courses.....

    Good Morning All

Well what a week. It's been manic and not a penny earned!!!

I have been overwhelmed with medical stuff.

Hospital and clinic appts for OH and my parents. Finally culminated with me having to have a tooth extracted:eek: My jaw hurts and my face is swollen, bruised and battered. Hey ho, another few days and all will be well.

One thing to come out of it - it has strengthened my resolve to put some of my health care needs firmly on the top of my agenda from now on. I need to sort out one or two minor health niggles - a few more dentist visits in the pipeline.

I've made a good start with my physiotherapy sessions and the pilates and healthy eating is going well. My back feels much better, although I did bu**er it up again the other day stripping wallpaper:rotfl:

I really am going to have to learn to delegate more. Let the boys do the physical stuff whilst I just float around with colour charts and fabric samples, making the tea etc.

This week has all been pay out - joiners and electricians and of course the dreaded dentist bill, although I can claim that back off my insurance.

Viewed a couple of properties - nothing jumps out at me so far.

So today is catch up day because I have a busy week again next week. So today I shall sort out my banking and accounts etc ready for the end of the month round up.

This week I have two specific extra goals.

    1. To give matched betting another go.
    2. To start re-upholstering an old armchair. This is a practice run for bigger and better things.

    Re Books

I've just finished reading Arnold Scwarzenegger's autobiography. It's rather long and he does go on a bit but his life story does give food for thought. He is entirely self made - in his case literally:rotfl: - having built and shaped his body.

Arnold came from nothing and has had four very successful careers/businesses. Just goes to show what can be achieved when we put our minds to it.

As well as business books and life stories of successful people I also read quite a bit of philosophy and psychology. I've just finished reading a psychology book called "The Happiness Advantage" by Shawn Achor. I can recommend it.

I'm currently re-reading "Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway".

I first read the "Millionaire Next Door" right at the height of all my troubles, when my OH first became ill and I was staring bankruptcy in the face. I found it very helpful.

Right time to start the day.

LL, you poor thing! I hate *having* to do stuff when my jaw/ teeth are poorly, you have my sympathies. Plus the appointments for other people must be difficult, of course.

I finally came back fully to mse, and opened up a diary on the mfw board - I'm used to prattling a *lot*, and you can do that on a diary. Must be careful to stay within forum rules, but this thread does, after all, so it can be done.

And I bought my business cards, from vistaprint ... I know that for a few people in London, business cards are out of date, just swapping phones and inputting their numbers straight away, but thats not my experience round here, so I went ahead and got them.

Books: can't really help with business books, but I dip into 59 seconds by Richard Wiseman every so often - its a self help book as in its an encyclopedia of researched techniques, each of which take less than a minute to explain (hence 59 seconds!) which are proven to help with many issues. I don't like all of them, by any means, but you only need a few ....

Hope everyone's doing well. Still wonder how Tink is.

    Ouccchh Dentists :(

Think like a tycoon - Very outdated, but still worth a read i.e he talks about how to get on the property market for free by loaning small amounts from different banks so you get the capital to invest...that wouldn't work these days because of credit checks, I wouldn't read it as a motivational book though more if your already into property, I've put it back on my shelf and plan to get it down again when I go into B2Lets.

I found Duncan bannatynes book really motivating ...Anyone can do it...its more or less his life story but I found it inspiring - I went on to buy more of his books and all I can say is what aload of crap...but that one was amazing.

    Good Morning People

How are we all. Hope you all fit, well and raring to go.

Well last week was a bit of a write off.

As you know I had to have a tooth removed about 10 days ago. Well I had over a week of really intense jaw pain and my poor face was black and blue. I looked as if I had gone a couple of rounds with Mike Tyson.

The good news is I finally feel human again. I've also managed to keep up with the pilates and my back is feeling so much better. The bad news is I really am going to have to get some more dental work done - not looking forward to that:(.

So last week I had to put a lot of things "on hold" however, I used the time productively, phoning contractors, setting up site meetings etc and also researching materials.

I am after a couple of Victorian fireplaces , a roll top bath, original floorboards etc so if anyone knows any good reclamation yards in the East Midlands area please let me know. I have found a few through t'interweb so will start trawling around in the next couple of weeks.

It's a good job I like shopping - I have a list as long as my arm. :rotfl:

Anyway we've got the first of the trades starting on 13th Feb and it looks like we will be on target to have everything stripped out by then so that we don't hold anyone up. Then hopefully its bish, bosh, bash - electrician, plumber, joiner and plasterer in quick succession.

DS2 has moved in and is living "on site", doing all the stripping out in his spare time, evenings and weekends. I pop over and give a hand and provide the tea and bacon butties to keep him going.

Whilst the trades get stuck in I will get to do the fun stuff, choosing paint, up cycling furniture - as my son puts it "fannying around with your arty designery stuff".

One major breakthrough last week. I have found a perfect retirement complex for mum and dad, a small apartment for dad and nursing care for mum - all on the same site.

Dad is up for it, just need to get mum on board. Dad and I are going back for a second visit tomorrow to just drill down on all the fine details. We've put their cottage on the market, and had the auctioneers round to value some of their larger pieces of furniture.

So another house to market, the house to be cleared etc. It's a very emotional time for the family but it's good to know that mum and dad are going to be safe, comfortable and well cared for.

Right time to start the week - a quick tidy up, then a food shop then a meeting with the joiner today.

Hope you all have a good week, sending you positive vibes:D

Good to hear you update, awful news about the jaw pain!!! Hope you've got really good painkillers.

And lovely to hear that your mum and dad can be cared for on the same site, hopefully it will make visiting each other much, much easier - you hear of couples on the news sometimes who're forced into living miles apart :(

My own stuff is all still about planning - totally focussed at the mo on the tax return ...
