All credit to you & your projects for `14. How will manage with all your other commitments? I think an assistant would be a great idea, or some other kindred spirit to help you along?
My sons provide "free" labour!!! (All the food you can eat:rotfl:) Problem is they both work full time. We really do need to try and do as much as we can ourselves to keep costs down so as to increase profits.
I have a friend who can supply a couple of lads for labouring on a "need to have" basis, the odd day here and there. We will just have to work with what we have. Should be ok.
I just need to improve my time management skills.
Sleep is for wimps:rotfl:0 -

I've decided to join the £2014 in 2014 thread - it will help me keep track of the dribs and drabs.
Many a mickle maks a muckle and all that...:rotfl:
Good luck with your empire building .. sounds like a good plan for this year.
I have joined the thread as well but only half the target as we still don't know if OH will be made permanent in his work0 -
Happy New Year everyone.
May 2014 be prosperous and successful!0 -
My wife said to me today 'so what did your blog achieve in 2013 and what is it going to achieve in 2014'
And I was stumped by the simplicity and obviousness of it, but mainly by the fact I hadn't worked it out yet (I hadn't even thought to work it out yet).
So thats the weekend sorted!
Any big plans for the year guys to get the millionaire challenge kick started?0 -
Wheeeee 2014
I don't no why but yesterday didn't feel like a new year, so mine starts today!
What a set back...our a car broke down, not even worth fixing...so I've literally emptied all my lovely saving pots for our hoilday..staying off work... our house fund (which was techincally a gift from my Dad when we moved in for decorating but I asked him and he said it was ok) for us to buy a new car. (Its only £1000 but with tax and insurance prems..meh)
Were picking it up today anyway, fingers crossed its all good.
My partner has agreed to only spend £200 a month and same for me, so *hopefully* were going to be putting £400-500 away a month with plan to pay car insurance off in june in full instead of monthly..and the MOT is in march and to fill some of my savings pots back up!
I managed to organise all my listings and put new ones up of product 1 and product 2 but the work is never ending! Everything is coming into place quite nicely though.. got alot done anyway ! :-) Oh and I brought a laptop but its not here yet..Ill go into that when its here I think.
So to the new year...
Life
Lose weight...such a typical one but I've put on quite abit last two years having the kids (also comes with more excerise & eating better!)
More round the table meals with the kids (we keep eating in front room)
Less distractions - more really stop brosing the internet when I've got loads to do!
Get organised - Keep the house more tidy!
Stop being as lazy!
Business aims
Save at LEAST 2k towards buy to let. (27k needed)
Save £1,200 for the next step of my business &
Reach step 5 of my business plan (website currently on step 2)
Be able to stay a steady income of £100 out of the business by april (It doesn't sound alot but I want to focus on reinvesting)
Right, I'm going to start today with my not browsing by not coming back till tomorrow!
Lots to do today :-)
Hope everyone achieves their goals this year and I look forward to still being here in 2015! This time next year we will be millionaires!!People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
Sounds good, Kayalana, even if the car did have to get written off.
Interesting that you've got distinct steps - I want to grow the blog and website, obviously, but its a very general goal, I haven't been thinking of the steps. Here's a few "things to do" until I work out the steps:
- collect the new camera today, its ready for me at a Waitrose in the next town along the railway.
- practise with it!
- I found lots of "public domain" images yesterday, although they're relevant to the USA, I'm happy to use them there.
- the wordpress blog I have on cats, which is so far more about design than anything else, just picked up its first follower! Sounds like a professional blogger, but I've followed him in return. So I'll keep posting. Which leads to the next one:
- find a few appropriate places to start posting on other people's blogs, and start doing it, that seems to be really important.
- keep on researching what to sell, whether direct on the site or through linking to shops like on amazon, etsy, whatever. Might be able to start up a bit of co-operation with my brother, as he's looking at getting a scroll-saw, to make things for sale.
- keep my eyes open!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

It really isn't as snazzy as it sounds. My 'steps' are just my next product, I havn't sat down and thought about what I'm going to do..here are my goals etc..Ive just thought to myself I do this product then I can move onto this product..and I suppose after I've done 'step 4' aka product 4 I will have enough to start working on a website...so I called it step 5 at the time of writing. :rotfl:
Alot of these self help millionaire books tell you to sit down and write out your goals and review - I don't agree with this. I always have a general goal in mind, and a to do list on my computer because my memory is rubbish and some times a design idea comes to my head but I havn't got time to make it so I stick it in my to do list.
I think if you spend to much time thinking of your goals your not going to get up and do them, although theirs nothing wrong with abit planning I guess depends what your doing. *shurgs*
My laptop - took plunge and just brought a £350 one from Currys...got it home had abit of a play...HATE windows 8 ..I tell you now it is not designed for business use, its designed for people who want to use facebook and play games and talk to their friends...so if thats what you want hell go ahead get one.
Also when ever you swipe side ways it changes screen...so your just moving your mouse around on your lappie and bam your on bloody msn...swipe back...go on a internet side...oh look your on msn again!! :rotfl:
Now very very luckily I found a fault with the keypadso I managed to take it back! Bit gutted as I wanted a laptop for ages btu hey ho.
Brought one of ebay now...2nd hand .Worried.com but same time its windows 7 and it looks all good nick....so fingers crossed I should get it today.
Perhaps you should sell snazzy collars for cats? cat toys?People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -

Good luck with the ebay one, Kayalana, hope it works out. Like you, I'd stick with Windows 7 as long as I could - seems that "improvements" are really for the sake of it these days, with no real improvement for us, just a new version to be touted for the company.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
PM'ed u KC
Have to admit I've had a fun afternoon. Went out to eat for my grandad's 70th(mums side not the one i mentioned before about not wanting to borrow off) and my rouge uncle (hes lovely really but hes known for his back street deals if you no what i mean lol) and grandad got talking about my business and gave me some great ideas ...I had my uncle in my ear about 'getting bigger' and 'im not thinking big enough'
If only he knew what I had planned! I think what he was basicly saying is I'm not growing fast enough...and I know it sounds like an excuse but how can I with two kids under 2! I will get their...but just at a slower progress then if I didnt have kids...end day I want to be able to stay off with my kids thats the point in running the business.
But they both offered to put half up of the money I need... I said no because of time ive got my hands full with designs for product 2...and the money will be for product 3 but I might go back to them later if needed its nice to know I can!
I guess it was just really nice to talk to people who were interested in what I was doing, people listen but they don't really offer feedback or anything..and I do feel quite proud really that people are finally taking me serouisly..the fact they were willing to put the money up shows that they have belief in what I'm doing.People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
Kayalana - good news that your family are so supportive. I think surrounding yourself with positive, can do people is great.
I know this sounds brutal but I've learned to cut out the negative, naysayers and doom merchants out of my life. I don't need them - I have enough on my plate. I only surround myself with positive helpful people now.
It's nice for you to know that there is financial help if you need it, even if you prefer not to use it. It's bound to make you feel better knowing that they believe in you.
Well the last couple of days have been great. I have been busy and productive.
It's amazing how much extra time I have been able to find now that I'm now longer wasting it watching Junk TV:rotfl:
I'm currently debating whether or not to sink my last dollop of cash into another property now rather than later in the year, before prices really start to rocket.
Ideally I could do with a bit more in the coffers for a contingency however if prices rise quickly it could mean that my purchasing power might buy me less.
I've spent a couple of days shopping around for the best interest rates and they really are pitiful. There is no way they will keep up with house price rises if property values shoot up.
I think it's time to call my broker and see what he can do for me.0
