Guys really interesting thread and some great attitudes, can't believe how young some of you as well, I would offer a couple of bits of advice which to be honest you probably allready are aware of as you seem a bright bunch.
Don't live TOO frugal, live is for living and enjoying whats the point in having good money and good money coming in if you can't enjoy it ?
without wanting to sound morbid you could get hit by a bus tomorrow or in 5/10 years time or get ill, what use is that money to you then, I'm pretty sure on your death bed you wouldn't be likely to say ''i wish I saved more money'' etc
You all seem too sensible to go and !!!! it all away but be wary of letting life slip you by, I am only 32 but it seems like 2 minutes ago I was 18 (no serioulsy seems only a couple of years ago) time will fly and 10 years will pass in the blink of an eye.

Anyway apart from that I would love to join in however I am out of work at the moment (I did have my own business from 21/22-28/29 but went bankrupt a couple of years ago and apart from record dealer and DJ I have zero qualifications so Its going to be a massive climb and to be honest I am useless at saving money :rotfl:
I do have a few ideas though, infact ideas etc are probably my strong point, motivation and self discipline my weak points.

Anyway what books would you guys recommend to take a look at seen a few mentioned but don't want anything trying to be to clever.

Good luck everyone, just remember to enjoy the journey as well as the destination :)

For me you have hit a nail on the head with this post. I was gona post up a few days ago when people where taking about being frugal and being millionaires driving 10 yr old fiesta's.

I am a big fan of staying grounded, my oh has many friends that are now footballers and some are grounded and some arent but they all earn nice little salaries. If we are all frugal to help us reach the millionaire point then fine thats part of the choice we made. However their is no point getting to a million and then not spending any of it abd living like a porper. Basically what I am saying is that i know some people that spend everything they get paid every week. Whilst i am probably the other way where I try and spend as little as possible, some people might call me tight, infact one of my friends described me as tight for my family and they are known as being tight! That said I like to enjoy myself, I will not waste money but will try enjoy myself, for instance a few of the ;ads I went to uni with wanted to have a catch up but in spain, did I say no I am saving to be a millionaire? No I attended and enjoyed the weekend. I did however make sure that I got good prices for all my travel etc and didnt waste money when I was away.

With regards to good books, well this backs up my whole post, "the richest man in babylon". Its really short and I found it easy to read. It teaches about little ways of building your fortune. One of the key lessons is dont spend everything you earn. but if your earnings go up you can increase your spend proportionatly. Infact another comment on here was about not "screwing people over" n I think their was a cahpter on that as well. The point is, short book, can get a free pdf if you google it and its written like little stories so easy to read.

Im away to have a gander at the richest man in Babylon...sounds better than the think yourself rich. I have a few ideas of how to go about accumulating wealth and stratagies to use and which saving plans....next step once thats done is find ways of increasing wealth quicker...I have been told on price work have a target to make in the month so you know what your take home will be. I will just have to wait and see how it goes when i on price in July. 32 days work and then i am there.

I wonder how many people save like mad and are actually secretly very well off. Like £100k in the bank and mortgage free but to the neighbours they may seem like they struggle with a mortgage and 8 year old car. Never judge a book by its cover is another in buisness when folk appear good, then turn out not to be and vice versa.

    Again some amazing posts here!
I am VERY frugal most the time but also enjoy life at the same time.we go on holidays but we always go for the cheapest one and usually end up having an amazing time. The kids dont want for much but also are aware that everything has a cost.To earn a few chocolate buttons they must tidy up or something similar(and not in a bribery way)

Well today, having half hour to kill, I parked my van close to a busy junction close to home (not in the way though!) and just sat there thinking even if 1 person views my website im happy.....no no my luck must be in as someone actually came over and spoke to me about doing a full house renovation!!!!!

Now people can say what they want about oooh isnt it lucky you were there but I am a firm believer that its not luck its hard work and choices made. Had I not paid for van signage I could sit there all day, had I gone straight home I could have missed out etc. I know for a fact there is at least 2 other female decorators, and at least 15 decorators in general within a 1 mile radius. The road the house was on has a decorator living just doors away....
The guy actually said he hadnt seen any female decs around and thats part of the reason he came over.again I know thats unfair advantage but if thats what people are after then im not going to read them the riot act!

    tinktay,

your right it isnt luck, you made the decision that since their was nothing you could be doing with yourself that was more productive that you would try doing some advertising with you van. Somebody seen it and you have a lead. You could try that another 100 times and not get a lead, some peopel would call that luck, I like to beleive that if you give luck a chance then it will favour you over somebody that doesnt give it a chance. You gave it that chance by sitting their in the first place.

    Well done you!

I have started my millionaire money making scheme, well sort of.

My father rubs a business and made a website a couple of years ago. he hasnt really made any money from the site so I have told him i will try boost the business on a deal of half the profits from sales. I have also decided that I will attempt to sell some of his product to local business's and go round the doors. His company retails fudge and other confectionery and I reckon I could maybe get a couple of resteraunts to purchase some to serve along with coffee's at the end of a meal.

I do have a question tho, does anybody know how to get a website some more visibility with minumum spend, prefferably free? Any ideas welcome. We cuurrently have the site written on the side of the company van, on the bags you get if you purchase from our unit and I have also created a facebook page.

Defo cannot wait for payrise!! Taking each day as it comes...but i will be loving work even more than i already do once im getting more for it and nearer what i deserve. Got my car back from garage, gasket replaced and seems ok again. Wont be suprised if something else goes wrong soon or it even fails mot which is out in a fortnight. Hopefully it will pass though and then i can see about getting rid in August/October.

Work base is changing from 35 mile round trip to 10 mile round trip a day in July/August aswel so that will be fantastic for me and save me alot of cash on fuel. Taking it esy tonight watching soaps...sometimes after making some money you just have to chill....

SLKH, I love that story and agree that, yes although we arent claiming to be in the same position as this guy physically etc, we too are trying to achieve a goal despite having disadvantages.

jacka87, make sure the home page has as many 'relevent' words as possible so anything fudge related, put things like able to supply to restaurants, shops etc. The more key words you have on home page the more the 'spiders' will bump you up. spiders are basically the little things that put together search results so if someone goes to a search engine and types specific words, if your homepage carries several of these words you will move up the list. If you go to vistaprint they have website building and have hints and tips. You dont have to set up a page with them i dont think to get the hints and they even give u addresses to go to that will make spiders check out your webpage before someone searches.

My webpage has had 400 visitors as of yesterday which is fab considering ive had no advertising other than my van and around 40 of them came through a well known ggggsearchengine

Thanks for the advice, I will try reword the homepage to help get a higher ranking. Do ou know if the same can be done for images?

Has anbody on here done any website to website pier advertising? I was told that its a good way to direct clients. So an example might be that a joiners site might have a link to a local painters site and vice versa. if you are having a full refurb of a house then you maybe need both. If you have done this does it seem to help?
