i just cant believe that for 100hr weeks I used to work over xmas in hotels(seriously! 100hrs was minimum for the 6 weeks from mid Nov) I used to earn around £260 but now can earn that in a couple of days (maybe 14hrs) definately worth learning a trade and the work I do no is the stuff that people have ago at themselves then realise its not as easy or it takes too long or whatever. Its taken 2 of us about 5 hrs to strip nearly a full 3bed house of wallpaper today. And we dont use steam strippers either we do it the good old fashioned bucket o water way

Thats what my journeyman apparently gets for an 8 hour day - £130 a day take home! £16.25 an hour after tax...not bad if i say so myself. I could do 60 hours a week easy...that would be £975 a week...so really i could be taking home £4,000 in some months...just cannot wait to get my payrise and i will see exactly how much i can get and set my goal and work towards that week in week out.

Got to remember iv got age and experience against me...only 19 and 4 years experience as of next month so will have to wait. Can start planning everything else though!
Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

I used to alway get told it was my age that held me back in catering as I was so young but it was aright when it suited (I used to run weddings & cover management shifts when I was 17 but the pay wa £3.26/hr woooo)

Dont let anyone use your age against you and 4 year experience is more than none so try and use it as a positive. You have OVER 4 yrs experience (obviously once you are over 4 yr mark) and you are young so are ale to adapt and learn new methods as well as traditional etc

I always used to say yes im young but that means im not set in my ways and am open to findingnew ways to improve business etc.

Your age and experience is not against you it is an advantage! I think for someone of your age to have taken the steps you have already taken show's you are sensible and know what you want in life. At 19 I was no where near as clued up as you sound and just wasted my money and got into silly debts, its taken me 27 years to get to this point so you are 8 years ahead of the game!

Everything starts with an idea even the most famous of them all it's how you go about putting that idea into action to make it a reality and as far as I can see you are doing that already, you have an overall goal and are making the necessary steps to ensure you get there.

I have am about half way through 'think and grow rich' now and the more I read the more I would recommend reading the book, you can pick a hardcopy up for about 5.99 on play or similar site's. It's more of a textbook really and if you have a hard copy you can go back to it regular and underline any important points as it recommend's doing!

Stay positive anyway and you will get there :)

I bet in many ways it helped you more than you realise, because you discovered what you were capable of doing, using your initiative and your imagination which i'm sure is a big part of the work you are doing now for YOURSELF! without sounding awful the older people you then worked with are probably still there today doing the same work they were then. I think like you say when you are young you tend to be more open minded to new ideas and adapt easier and are not content with just accepting that's how things are done so that must be the correct way.

I think if you have the confidence and belief in what you do it will shine theough and you will be successful regardless of your age or background as that has obsolutely nothing to do with it, it is your mind that's the important thing and that has no boundaries! :)

Welcome and best of luck with your challenge! I think the target you have set yourself is very do-able! You are still really young and have plenty of time to develop ideas to increase your income. It all starts with an idea then determination to see it through. Have a think of what skills you have or hobbies you enjoy and go from there, maybe take on a second p/t job if possible and budget whereever you can, it's amazing how quick just small amounts add up!

What a lovely Christmas present aswell to be debt free :)

Welcome! your plans sound impressive and should keep you very busy and hopefully not spending too much money in the process! It may well be worthwhile concentrating on one or two particular areas rather than ten as it usually takes at least a year for a company to even start making money, also having more than one company does not necessarily mean more money, you could reach your goal with one sound company which you have the time to dedicate yourself too. Just a thought! Best of luck anyway :)
