Micro-managing my finances is paying dividends.
Received that tax rebate today. £2145-00 to add to the pot. :j0 -
Morning all,
LL, you're right, everyone needs a little treat now and then, otherwise the constant deprivation is enough to push you over the edge and off the wagon, as it were! Sounds as though you are taking lots of small steps but in the right direction.
Tink, very impressed with your progress, everything seems to be happening suddenly! You're on a roll!
I need to think of some cunning plan of my own, I can see, so far haven't really thought of any clever way to maximise my self-employed status!0 -

Evening all,
Thought I'd get involved in this!
I've taken a few days to read through the 57 odd pages and it's been a great read to see people working hard to reach their goals.
I'd love to reach a million but not sure if I'll get there but I'm going to try my best.
The only chance I've got it too setup my own business and is something I'm looking to do in the next couple of years.
I've got no debt (apart from my mortgage) and have built up £15,000 over the past 18 months or so since buying my house.
My target is £30000 before I can properly start my business.
I'll keep looking into this thread and I'll update as I put more in the pot ready for me to get to my million!0 -
Great thread and a fascinating read. I am writing a blog about get rich quick schemes and love this kind of challenge.
I shall be watching with great interest and may even consider putting a section on my website for this as an overall goal! It seems like one of those ideas thats so obvious you can't believe you missed it!0 -

Just a quickie today.
I read an article about top websites, one of which was stated as second life. Second life is basically a virtual world game where people can create an online lifestyle and live it out via the game. I know, sounds complicated! Anyway what caught my attention was a story of a women who become a real life millionaire by trading real estate in this virtual world.
I thought that was pretty genius!! :rotfl: while other members of the site were buying silly things like flying unicorns, she was snapping up land for developement
Heres her Wiki page : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anshe_Chung
Seriously, I am waiting for a new game (preferably an MMO/MMORPG) where you can real life cash out. I literally search each month. There was another fella in the game Entropia Universe who sold a virtual space station or land, or something along those lines for over half a million USD. I think he took out a mortgage on his house to initially pay for it before he made money doing virtual services then selling it on, unless I'm crossing it with another guy from the same game.
Blizzards Diablo 3; I was reading some forums a while back. Some people had made £5000 and some £8000 in a year using the rmah (real money auction house) and cashing it out. I'm hoping (Blizzard being a leading games company and other companies following their model) other companies will follow and introduce similar games. Granted to some gamers there's a debate about 'pay to win' and lowering game quality but that's another issue.
I could totally do that. I'm a hardened MMO/MMORPG'er. I had a million gold in WoW + other assets at level 85. Which was quite a lot. Like, probably the top 1% - .5% of the server. In the end I was just playing the in-game auction house which was quite addictive in itself.
I am literally waiting for the next new MMO/sandbox type game to be released so I can do this.0 -
Hi Folks
Reading about your "adventures in cyberspace" makes me feel like Methusaleh's Grandma. I haven't got a clue and it just goes straight over my head. I guess I'm just not smart enough......
I'm afraid I'll just have to make my money the old fashioned way but for you guys, who know your way around this stuff, go for it.
I often read about these 16 year olds who have become millionaires by inventing some game or other in their bedroom (ooops not those kind of games:rotfl::rotfl:).
Anyway have been busy with OH and all things medical this last couple of weeks so not much achieved on the money making although I am still doing the nerdy micro-managing and with good effect. The bank balance is looking quite healthy;)
I viewed a couple of properties last week but not quite what I'm after. Have a viewing booked for one for me tomorrow and one for the boys on Saturday. Fingers crossed.
Which reminds me Ray-Kay - how is your house purchase going, and more to the point - has Baby Kay made her grand entrance yet.
Hope you are all busy, healthy and (getting) wealthy.

Hi everyone, if you remember I enquired about doing HR. I enquired to my local college and they have an evening course for a Foundation Certificate for £1000. This is a bit more manageable but means I have three months to save for it.... can I do it? I will try my best.

The best thing you can do is work for yourself. I think you are on the right track and should keep pushing forward
