Yeh Wik the straining of sediment and "fat" I think from the sweets is really easy to do I used a small funnel and a coffee filter and did it a couple of times. Blackcurrant and liquorice was also very successful:)
    The secret of Christmas
It's not the things you do at Christmastime
But the Christmas things you do
    All year through

  • A couple for you to try, If you are as old as me and can remember the chewy sweets called Black Jacks, they are great in Vodka, the mix is a dark grey cloudy one, but tastes great.
Another favourite is from the Hairy Bikers and is their Christmas Pudding Vodka, made some last year a week before Christmas and worked OK on Christmas day, the second batch I made had a couple of weeks to infuse and was much better. One batch made in March is now being sampled for this Christmas.
Bottle of Vodka, Currants, Sultanas and Raisins, Candied Peel. Orange Zest and Cinnamon Sticks and a clove. It is best strained before drinking, but leave as long as you can before straining.
  • From a friend of mine who purchased a bottle of Toffee Vodka.
Shot of Toffee Vodka, Apple Sour and either apple drink or dry cider.......
Hey Presto Toffee Apple in a glass!
  • Toffee apple next for me. For something a bit different, empty half a bottle of vodka into another container and drop 2 or 3 cinnamon sticks into the bottle. After a while, remove the sticks and top the bottle up with home made syrup (sugar and water stock). add a little red or pink colour to it to make it look pretty.
  • This year ive made flavoured vodkas for a bunch of people using their favourite sweets - within reason! Have done werthers vodka, rhubarb and custard vodka, jelly tot vodka, rosy apply vodka amd lemon sherbet vodka....all look amazing and very colourful

Last year I made Werthers, Fox's glacier mint, pineapple chunks and rhubarb and custard vodka. The rhubarb one was the favourite. This year I'm doing Orange and passionfruit, apple custard, cherry drops, peaches and cream and rosey apple.

Made the christmas pudding vodka last week. Nearly all gone. It's great. Another I heard on the radio the other day, was Mars bar. Melt a Mars bar over a ban marie (if that's how you spell it). Add some of your vodka, and stir until fully mixed. Then add back to the vodka. Chocoate toffee vodka.

    I use these bottles. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Traditional-Vintage-Airtight-Preserve-Bottles/dp/B007CJPP5M/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1386936639&sr=8-2&keywords=glass+bottles+250ml

The amount of sweets to use was try it and see in my case, you can just keep on adding to the vodka. I kept the mint one in the fridge and it stayed slightly thick. I wouldn't actually make this one again. I started off with Werther's but added some Fox's butterscotch sweets, this gave it a better flavour.
