Is is too late to make toffee vodka?

I'd like to make some, is it too late, how long will the werthers take to dissolve?

How many do I put in the bottle (not sure if it'll be a full or half sized bottle yet)

Sounds lovely! No idea of the answer I'm afraid, but hopefully someone will know. They wont take that long to dissolve will they? How many do you use per bottle of vodka?

  • Hi ya, Ive only made little minature bottles of it to put in stocking, but all I did was chucked a couple of lumps of toffee in each bottle and within a day or so it was all dissolved.
I would imagine you would have enough time if you did it now for toffee to disolve.

Sorry dont know how much toffee you suppose to use, I just added little bits at time and then tasted it once it dissolved to see if it needed more

    HTH :)
  • I did 300g of Wether Originals in 1.25L of Vodka and it took 2 days to dissolve if thats any help :D

    Thanks Katie.

Will get started - suppose I could always have strained out any 'bits' if I'd left it too late

I made my toffee vodka on monday, and used one bag of Lidl's fake Werthers for one 75cl bottle of vodka. I thought "it's going to take ages for this stuff to dissolve, even with me vigorously shaking it all the time", so I poured it into my blender and gave it a good whizz until I could only hear the light flutter of crumbs in there instead of the loud churning of the big lumps. I'll strain it through a coffee filter before filling it into the swing top Grolsch bottles I've saved just for that purpose, just to make sure there are no bits. I let my DH smell it, and he said it smelled scrummy. Will have to let him taste it before I give it away, so he'll have to put up with being my guinea pig for a bit longer.

I crunched up my wethers (one standard sized bag to 75cl of vodka) in my coffee grinder and then added it through a paper funnel and shook for about half an hour - it was dissolved by the next day and absolutely delicious!

Do you drink it alone or with a mixer?

Aone with ice for me :D

Its luverly & really easy to make.

I made mine one morning and it was ready to drink that evening.

Its REALLY nice if you pop it in the freezer for an hour before you drink it :)

we used to sell home made flavored vodkas in the bar i worked in, because we sold so much it was easier for us to do it this way...

empty 1 large pack of boiled sweets into a sauce pan
pour about 1/2 cup of water into pan and top up with vodka until the sweets are just covered.
simmer until fully disolved. the sweets go really sticky at first but after about 10 mins the suddenly become liquid.
pour back in to the vodka bottle and shake.
this mixture is usually enough for 2 x 70cl bottles.

    recommended flavours....
    werthers original
    fox's glacier mints
    pear drops
    rubbarb and custard
and my fav, cherry menthol tunes . although you cant sell this because tunes are classed as medication.

    dont bother with....
soft toffee (it goes all pastie)
the strawberry and cream or blackcurrent and cream polos (the cream seperates and is horrible)
    winter mixture (no-one likes it)

we used to make about 30 bottles per week, £6 for tesco vodka, £1 for a bag of sweets, sell for £1 a shot.........loads of profit
